LG Electronics announced today the launch of its new projector, the LG CineBeam Shorts, which can project a 100-inch 4K screen from a distance of just 40 cm. This innovative projector is set to redefine home entertainment with its blend of powerful performance and compact design.
The defining feature of the CineBeam Shorts is its ultra-short throw technology. This allows the device to project a large, high-resolution screen from a very close distance to the wall, significantly improving space efficiency. LG highlights that the projector only needs 8.1 cm to display a 40-inch screen and just 39.3 cm to project a massive 100-inch display. This eliminates the common issue of needing a long distance between the projector and the screen, making it ideal for smaller living spaces and a more seamless part of home decor.
Measuring a mere 11 cm in width, 16 cm in length, and 16 cm in thickness, the new product is remarkably small, roughly the size of a hand. Weighing only 1.9 kg, its lightweight and portable design makes it easy to move between rooms or take on the go. The company emphasizes that the combination of its ultra-short throw technology and small form factor prevents it from obstructing views or clashing with a room's interior design.
The CineBeam Shorts delivers an immersive viewing experience with its 4K high-resolution display, powered by an RGB laser beam. It boasts a color gamut that satisfies 154% of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI-P3) standard and a high contrast ratio of 450,000:1, ensuring rich, vibrant, and clear colors. To complement the stunning visuals, the projector also supports Dolby Atmos for a captivating, three-dimensional audio experience.
Users will appreciate the projector's suite of intelligent features designed for convenience. The Wall Color Matching function automatically adjusts the color balance to the wall's shade, while the Screen Range Setting allows for easy adjustments to the screen size and position. Furthermore, the Automatic Screen & Focus Adjustment feature ensures a clear and perfectly rectangular picture is created automatically, eliminating the hassle of manual calibration.
Powered by LG's proprietary smart TV platform, webOS, the CineBeam Shorts offers a wealth of content without the need for additional devices. Users can access LG Channels, the company's free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service, as well as a wide range of popular over-the-top (OTT) services and games directly through the internet.
Sales for the LG CineBeam Shorts will begin on August 5th, with a domestic retail price of 1,790,000 KRW. The launch marks another step for LG in its continued innovation in the home entertainment sector, providing consumers with a versatile and powerful solution for large-screen viewing.
