Daejeon City has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' '2025 Collaborative Makerspace Support Project' for the second consecutive year, securing KRW 600 million in national funding. Based on this, the city will further advance its ICT-based manufacturing startup ecosystem and continue to provide comprehensive support for the technology commercialization of local startups throughout their entire lifecycle.
The 'Collaborative Makerspace Support Project' is a key initiative by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups aimed at promoting maker activities and manufacturing startups by supporting specialized makerspaces and private organizations.
Last year, through this project, Daejeon achieved significant results, including 7,505 prototype productions, 23 new startups, and the creation of 133 jobs, receiving excellent evaluations.
Through this year's project, the city will invest a total of KRW 1 billion, including the KRW 600 million in national funding, and will collaborate with the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (DCCEI), a dedicated startup support organization, FunFun3D, a 3D printing specialist company, and Gravity Company, a digital manufacturing startup, to 본격적으로 operate programs focused on ICT technology-specialized fields.
Specifically, it plans to provide customized programs covering all stages from the initial startup phase to commercialization and investment linkage, including ▲prototype production support ▲business growth support ▲making education ▲maker event hosting and participation ▲makerspace promotion.
Furthermore, through this project, Daejeon aims to strengthen the hub function of technology startups by collaborating with research institutions in Daedeok Innopolis, universities, and startup support organizations, centered around the Daejeon Creative Lab, which has established itself as a hub for the local startup ecosystem. The goal is to build the best maker platform in the central region.
Startup companies and prospective entrepreneurs who wish to receive support can participate in programs and utilize facilities through the makerspace 'Daejeon Creative Lab' portal (www.djclab.co.kr).
Choi Won-hyeok, Director of the Daejeon Metropolitan City's Business Support Division, emphasized, "Daejeon Creative Lab is a leading maker creation space in the central region. Through this selection, we will spare no effort in providing comprehensive support so that excellent local startups can proceed from prototype production to investment linkage and scale-up."
