ASUNCIÓN - The Paraguayan Science Museum (MuCi) has launched its highly anticipated exhibition, "Land of Water," at TatakuaLab, located within the Textilia complex. This immersive experience delves into the profound role of water in shaping industrial and scientific progress, while also highlighting its fundamental significance for life and human civilization.
"Land of Water" distinguishes itself through its interactive approach, inviting visitors to actively engage with the exhibits. Through a blend of play, exploration, and hands-on activities, attendees can unravel the scientific principles governing water, explore its multifaceted properties, and grasp its impact on various aspects of life, including energy, transportation, and culture.
Matteo Acosta, the exhibition director at MuCi, emphasized the exhibition's thematic structure, stating, "We aim to illustrate water's pivotal role in Earth's ecosystems, historical discoveries, and socioeconomic development through three core themes: water as the wellspring of life, water as a catalyst for exploration, and water as a driving force of movement."
A highlight of the exhibition is the meticulously crafted ecological pond, populated with aquatic flora and native fish, providing visitors with a firsthand glimpse into the intricacies of natural ecosystems and underscoring the importance of biodiversity preservation. Additionally, microscopes are available for those eager to delve into the microscopic realm of aquatic life, revealing the diverse microorganisms and algae that inhabit these ecosystems.
Throughout March, MuCi will host an array of engaging programs tailored to visitors of all ages. Every Sunday, insect enthusiasts can join the "Bicheros" program, led by an expert, to observe and learn about the exhibition's resident insects. Tuesdays will feature the "Macro y Micro" program, which encourages exploration of nature through microscopes and digital tools. On Wednesdays, the "Experimiércoles" program will demystify scientific principles found in everyday life, while Thursdays will be dedicated to storytelling with the "Cuentacuentos" program, focusing on nature, science, and the universe.
In commemoration of World Forest Day on March 20, MuCi will offer an immersive experience and expert-led lectures to raise awareness about the significance of forest ecosystems. The following day, an educational program will delve into forest biodiversity and conservation. On World Water Day, March 22, attendees can participate in discussions and creative activities centered on the ecological role of amphibians. The month's programming will conclude with the "Bordando agua" workshop on March 29, seamlessly blending art and science.
Adjacent to TatakuaLab, the San Cosmos Planetarium will showcase a new show, "Worlds in Orbit, Satellites of the Solar System," throughout March. This captivating presentation will take viewers on a journey through the solar system, unveiling the hidden worlds orbiting gas giants and dwarf planets.
TatakuaLab and the San Cosmos Planetarium welcome visitors from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
