CHEONAN, South Korea — Cheonan City announced on November 4 that it has successfully wrapped up a nationwide tour of a special photo exhibition dedicated to South Korean football icon Cha Bum-kun. The tour was held in conjunction with the "Cha Bum-kun Football Festival."

The exhibition kicked off on October 9 in Seoul, followed by stops in Muju County, North Jeolla Province, on October 17, and Goheung County, South Jeolla Province, on October 31.

Designed to promote the upcoming establishment of the National Football History Museum in Cheonan, the event aimed to build anticipation and foster public consensus among youth football players and their parents from across the country.

The exhibition featured a total of 48 photographs, including historical archives donated by the Cha Bum-kun Football School alongside photos independently captured and curated by Cheonan City. Visitors enjoyed a rich visual timeline depicting Cha’s illustrious playing career, the early days of his football academy, and lively snapshots of children participating in regional matches.

Currently in its architectural design phase, the Cheonan Football History Museum is scheduled to break ground in August 2027, with an official opening targeted for the second half of 2029.

A representative from Cheonan City expressed deep gratitude to the local governments of Muju and Goheung for their cooperation in making the exhibition a success. "This traveling exhibition served as a meaningful opportunity to share the historical records of Korean football with the public while introducing the upcoming Football History Museum in Cheonan to a nationwide audience," the official said.
