Seoul, South Korea – Hancom, a leading South Korean software company, is rapidly evolving into an AI-centric organization. The company, best known for its Hancom Office suite, has recently launched several AI-powered products, signaling its ambitious plans to become a major player in the global AI market.

In an exclusive interview with IT Chosun, Executive Jeong Ji-hwan outlined Hancom's vision of becoming an "AI company." According to Jeong, "We aim to make AI the core of all our growth drivers, businesses, services, and products." The company is focused on integrating AI into all its offerings to drive business innovation and revolutionize the document lifecycle.

Key Highlights from the Interview:

Rapid Product Development: Hancom has released four AI products in just one year, a feat attributed to the company's 35 years of technological accumulation and the dedicated efforts of over 200 developers.
Personalized AI Solutions: Hancom's AI products, such as Hancompedia and Hancom Assistant, stand out due to their ability to provide highly customized solutions tailored to individual users and industries. The company leverages user data to create personalized templates and automate tasks.

Addressing AI Hallucinations: Hancom has addressed the issue of AI hallucinations through its Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. This technology enables Hancompedia to extract almost 100% of document data and understand the relationships between paragraphs, ensuring more reliable and accurate responses.
Global Expansion: Hancom is pursuing a localized approach to different markets. While it offers cloud-based solutions for B2C customers, it provides on-premises solutions for B2B and B2G clients who prefer closed networks. The company is also expanding its global reach with the establishment of a Japanese subsidiary.
Self-Developed Small LLM: Hancom is developing its own small language model, expected to be released in the first half of 2025. This model will be specifically designed for the Korean language, enabling more accurate understanding of user intent and complex tasks.

Future Outlook

Hancom's long-term goal is to create an AI ecosystem that supports various industries and users. The company aims to develop AI agents that can assist users with a wide range of tasks, beyond simple document creation. By leveraging its deep understanding of document processing and its strong foothold in the Korean market, Hancom is poised to become a global leader in AI-powered productivity solutions.

In Conclusion, Hancom's aggressive push into the AI market is driven by its vision of a future where AI seamlessly integrates into our daily work lives. With its focus on personalization, reliability, and global expansion, Hancom is well-positioned to shape the future of AI-driven document creation.
