Seoul, South Korea – LG Electronics has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World for the 13th consecutive year, underscoring its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

The global technology giant was recognized for its outstanding performance in various ESG categories, including environmental policy and management, human rights, human resources management, customer relations, supply chain management, and product stewardship.

DJSI, compiled by S&P Global, is a benchmark for corporate sustainability and measures the long-term sustainability of companies based on economic, environmental, and social criteria. Being included in the index signifies that LG Electronics is among the top 10% of the world's 2,500 largest companies in terms of ESG performance.

"We are honored to be recognized by the DJSI for the 13th year in a row," said [Quote from LG Electronics representative]. "This recognition validates our ongoing efforts to create a better future for all through our ESG initiatives."

A Focus on Sustainability

Under its ESG management vision of "Better Life for All," LG Electronics has been actively pursuing its 3C strategy for the planet and 3D strategy for people. The 3C strategy focuses on carbon neutrality, circularity, and clean technology, while the 3D strategy emphasizes decent workplaces, diversity and inclusion, and design for all.

To achieve carbon neutrality, LG Electronics has set ambitious targets, including achieving carbon neutrality in its manufacturing processes by 2030 and transitioning to 100% renewable energy by 2050. The company has already reduced its direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 54.6% compared to 2017 through various initiatives such as process improvements, energy-saving technologies, and the use of renewable energy.

Moreover, LG Electronics aims to reduce the greenhouse gas intensity of its seven major product lines by 20% by 2020 compared to 2020 levels. This will be achieved through efforts to improve product energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions throughout the product lifecycle.

A Commitment to ESG Excellence

LG Electronics has also been recognized for its strong ESG performance by other reputable organizations. The company has received an A rating for four consecutive years in the ESG evaluation and rating announced by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) and has maintained an A rating for five consecutive years in the ESG assessment conducted by MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International).
