Foreign Job Seekers in Korea on the Rise, Dedicated Platforms Emerge

Seoul, South Korea – As the number of foreign workers in South Korea surpasses one million, dedicated recruitment platforms designed specifically for foreigners are rapidly gaining traction.

JobKorea, a leading job portal in South Korea, launched its foreign talent recruitment service, "Click," in July of last year. This platform aims to connect foreign job seekers with suitable positions and provide companies with tailored recruitment opportunities. It features multilingual translation capabilities, including Korean, Chinese, and English.

Job seekers can easily search for job postings based on their preferred location, language proficiency, and visa status. Companies, on the other hand, can post job listings with specific requirements such as preferred visa type, Korean language proficiency, and foreign language skills.

Within just three months of its launch, "Click" garnered significant interest from both companies and foreign job seekers, with over 6,000 job postings registered on the platform. Additionally, "Click" operates a community service called "Lounge" where foreign job seekers can share employment and lifestyle information.

Saramin, another major job portal, followed suit in November with the launch of its foreign talent recruitment service, "Comate." This platform also offers multilingual translation and a foreign worker verification process to ensure the reliability of candidates.

Both "Click" and "Comate" allow companies to set specific criteria for job postings, such as language, education, experience, Korean language proficiency, and visa type. Foreign members can efficiently search for job postings based on detailed criteria like region, visa status, employment type, and Korean language proficiency.

To further assist companies in hiring foreign workers, Saramin and Comate have partnered with K-Visa, a visa agency, to provide visa processing services.

According to the "2024 Survey on the Status of Immigrants and Employment" released by the Korea National Statistical Office, the number of foreign workers in South Korea exceeded one million for the first time in May last year. Furthermore, a survey conducted by the Korea International Trade Association revealed that 77.9% of foreign students expressed their desire to find employment in South Korea.

While many foreigners living in Korea are interested in working here, challenges such as a lack of job information and difficulties in obtaining visas have been obstacles.

Chris Hur, the Click business lead at JobKorea, who spearheaded the development of "Click," shared, "Having lived in Korea as a foreigner myself, I experienced firsthand the challenges of finding job information and navigating the complexities of related administrative procedures. With 'Click,' we have proactively incorporated features that address the actual needs of users."
