As part of the nationwide "Travel Month" campaign (running from October 1 to November 30), the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) recently wrapped up a special family-focused tour in Buyeo, titled the "Buyeo Family Picnic Tour," according to local authorities on November 4.
The "Travel Month" initiative is a pan-national campaign spearheaded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism alongside the KTO to revitalize domestic tourism. By offering various travel perks—such as discounts on transportation, accommodations, and tour packages—along with region-specific programs, the campaign encourages citizens to explore different parts of South Korea.
The "5-Color 5-Theme Tour" program is uniquely designed to showcase regional history, culture, nature, and gastronomy through the distinct perspectives and tastes of five different influencers.
During the Buyeo leg of the tour, family participants walked through the ancient Baekje capital, experiencing its diverse charms firsthand. The itinerary featured major historical and cultural landmarks, including Busosanseong Fortress, the Baekje Cultural Complex, the National Buyeo Museum, and the Baekje Incense Burner Exhibition Hall. Participants also created lasting memories by trying on traditional Baekje royal and civilian garments.
In addition to heritage sites, the group visited Buyeo Central Market to soak in the local vibrancy and sampled signature regional delicacies such as tomato hangwa (traditional Korean confectionery) and yeonipbap (lotus leaf-wrapped rice), allowing families to deeply engage with Buyeo's local lifestyle and culinary culture.
Rather than focusing solely on sightseeing, the program blended nature walks, traditional cultural experiences, and local market visits, making Buyeo’s rich heritage accessible and engaging for travelers of all ages.
A representative from Buyeo County expressed hope that the participants thoroughly enjoyed the area's history, culture, nature, and food, taking home warm impressions of Buyeo. The official added, "We hope this trip serves as a memorable experience that inspires visitors to return to Buyeo in the future."
