2025 Customized Demonstration Support Project for Corporate Needs Holds First Meeting with 5 Selected Companies

Daejeon Metropolitan City is actively propelling its 2025 Customized Demonstration Testbed Support Project forward. As a key step, the city held its inaugural meeting on April 15th at the Daejeon Technopark Harmony Plaza with the companies selected to receive support under this initiative.

This project is a tailored program designed to accelerate the commercialization of local companies' outstanding technologies and facilitate their entry into the market. It provides demonstration support based on the specific conditions and environments desired by the participating companies. The primary objectives are to enhance the technical maturity and market suitability of their products through real-world testing, ultimately fostering tangible growth, including access to the public procurement market.

The meeting brought together approximately 20 individuals, including representatives from the five final selected companies: ▲3R Innovation Co., Ltd. ▲Optostar Co., Ltd. ▲AD Co., Ltd. ▲Vectech Co., Ltd. ▲Idea Info Co., Ltd. Also in attendance were representatives from the demonstration support agencies, Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) K-Testbed officials, and project management personnel. The agenda focused on sharing each company's demonstration plans and discussing collaborative strategies for successful project implementation.

The selected companies will receive comprehensive customized support until June 2026, including ▲up to KRW 130 million in demonstration expenses, ▲access to desired demonstration sites and consulting services, and ▲issuance of demonstration verification reports.

A significant enhancement this year stems from a business agreement concluded with K-water in March. Under this partnership, local companies aiming to have their demonstrated products designated as Innovative Procurement Products by the Public Procurement Service will receive performance verification reports equivalent to the benefits offered by the K-Testbed. This strategic collaboration aims to streamline the process for local innovations to enter the public sector market.

The ‘K-Testbed’ is a national integrated platform spearheaded by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and operated by K-water. It provides comprehensive support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, encompassing research and development, demonstration, and market access. This national initiative underscores the importance of bridging the gap between technological innovation and commercial success.

Choi Won-hyeok, Director-General of the Corporate Support Bureau of Daejeon Metropolitan City, emphasized the strategic focus of the project, stating, "This project goes beyond simple technology validation. Our primary focus is to provide practical assistance to local companies, enabling them to prove their technological capabilities through demonstration infrastructure and achieve early establishment in domestic and international markets." He further affirmed the city's commitment, adding, "Daejeon City will continue to provide unwavering strategic support for technology commercialization and market access, serving as a solid foundation for the growth of our local enterprises."

Expanded Details and Context:

Daejeon, a hub for science and technology in South Korea, is strategically investing in initiatives that bridge the critical gap between technological innovation and successful market penetration. The "Technology to Market" philosophy underpinning this demonstration support project reflects the city's understanding that promising technologies often face significant hurdles in transitioning from the laboratory to real-world application and commercial viability.

The selection of the five participating companies followed a rigorous evaluation process that considered the innovativeness of their technologies, their market potential, and their readiness for demonstration. The diverse range of selected companies, spanning sectors such as IT solutions, environmental technology, and advanced materials, highlights the breadth of technological innovation within the Daejeon ecosystem.

The customized nature of the support is a key differentiator of this project. Unlike generic support programs, this initiative actively engages with the selected companies to understand their specific demonstration needs, including the identification of appropriate testbed environments and the provision of tailored consulting expertise. This ensures that the demonstration process is highly relevant to the target market and provides valuable insights for product refinement and market entry strategies.

The collaboration with K-water and the leveraging of the K-Testbed platform represent a significant strategic advantage. Access to a nationally recognized testing and validation infrastructure enhances the credibility and market acceptance of the demonstrated technologies. Furthermore, the facilitated pathway to the Public Procurement Service's Innovative Procurement Products program opens up a substantial domestic market opportunity for these innovative solutions. The Public Procurement Service, as the central government procurement agency, plays a crucial role in promoting innovation by preferentially purchasing cutting-edge products and services from SMEs and startups.

The financial support of up to KRW 130 million per company provides crucial resources for conducting comprehensive demonstrations, covering costs associated with testbed usage, data collection and analysis, and the development of marketing materials to showcase the validated technologies. The issuance of a demonstration verification report serves as a valuable third-party validation of the product's performance and reliability, enhancing its market credibility and attractiveness to potential customers and investors.

Daejeon's commitment to fostering a vibrant innovation ecosystem extends beyond this demonstration project. The city actively supports startups and SMEs through various funding programs, incubation centers, and networking events. This holistic approach aims to create a conducive environment for technological innovation to flourish and contribute to the region's economic growth and job creation.

By strategically focusing on "technology to market" initiatives like this customized demonstration support project, Daejeon is positioning itself as a leading hub for the commercialization of advanced technologies and the cultivation of the next generation of star companies. The proactive engagement with local enterprises and the provision of tailored and impactful support are crucial steps in translating technological prowess into tangible economic success for the city and its innovative businesses.
