IP Committee Holds the 9th 'Intellectual Property Day' Ceremony on the 4th Chairman Gye Seung-gyun: "We will pool national innovation capabilities through intellectual property."

The Presidential Committee on Intellectual Property (IP Committee) held the commemorative ceremony for the 9th 'Intellectual Property Day' at the EL Tower in Seoul on the 4th.

Intellectual Property Day was designated as a legal commemorative day to commemorate September 4, the date when the Jikji Simche Yojeol, the world's oldest surviving metal movable type print, was inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register.

The commemorative ceremony was attended by about 300 people, including Gye Seung-gyun, Private Co-Chair of the Presidential Committee on Intellectual Property; Kim Yong-seon, Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office; and Won Hye-young, Co-President of the Korea Intellectual Property Federation, along with officials from relevant ministries and IP-related organizations.

Prime Minister Han Sung-sook (Co-Chair of the IP Committee) stated in a video commemorative address, "The government will foster an intellectual property ecosystem suited to the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and establish a virtuous cycle for K-content intellectual property (IP), running together to ensure that diverse ideas become South Korea's competitiveness and a global standard."

National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik stated in a video congratulatory message, "When creative ideas are properly protected and their achievements are fairly returned to creators, it becomes the driving force to open the future of South Korea. The National Assembly will also actively strive to create a society where the value of intellectual property is respected."

Kim Yong-seon, Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, stated in a congratulatory address, "We will serve as a shield to prevent hard-earned intellectual property from disappearing due to the threats of technology theft and disputes, and actively support bold regulatory reforms to lead to investment, exports, and job creation."

Following this, an appointment ceremony was held for 19 top experts from academia, research institutes, industry, and the legal profession as the 8th term private committee members.

Gye Seung-gyun, Private Co-Chair of the IP Committee, emphasized, "The 8th term Presidential Committee on Intellectual Property will become a reliable partner in making South Korea a nation that leads the world—an 'irreplaceable Republic of Korea'—where our knowledge and creativity receive legitimate recognition of value, and excellent intellectual property leads to investment and exports."
