From new variety exhibitions to cultivation technical consultations… Promoting jujube consumption and supporting farm sites

The Chungbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Services (Director Cho Eun-hee) announced that it will participate in the "2026 Boeun Jujube Festival," running from October 16 to 25, to present jujube research achievements and operate a promotional booth for farmers and consumers.

At this festival, the Jujube Research Institute will exhibit three new varieties developed in-house—including "Taebok"—alongside major research results, and provide technical consultations addressing field difficulties encountered during jujube cultivation.

In particular, the institute plans to help farmers respond effectively in the field by clearly introducing the symptoms, occurrence characteristics, and management methods of major pests and diseases.

Furthermore, the booth will inform festival-going consumers about the characteristics and excellence of fresh jujubes while offering tastings of baked goods developed using jujubes. Through this, the institute expects to introduce the diverse utilization potential of jujubes, boost consumer interest, and contribute to expanding jujube consumption.

In addition, the research institute plans to listen to the diverse opinions of farmers and consumers at the festival site and reflect them in future research directions, such as variety breeding and the development of cultivation and processing technologies.

Um Hyun-joo, head of the Jujube Research Institute at the Provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services, stated, "The Boeun Jujube Festival is a meaningful occasion to share our past research achievements with farmers and consumers while directly listening to voices from the field," adding, "Moving forward, we will continue to develop practical technologies that help farming households and enhance the value of jujubes to contribute to the development of Chungbuk's jujube industry."
