[GLOBAL ECONOMIC TIMES]  Daejeon Eastern Office of Education announced that the 33rd folk play competition will be held at Hanbat Gymnasium for two days from October 17th to 18th.

The folk play competition is a historic event that has been held 33 times by the Daejeon Eastern Office of Education in order to spread healthy traditional play culture, create a fun school with learning, communication, empathy and sharing, and realize school arts education that everyone can enjoy.

On the 17th, the first day of the competition, 133 students participate in the individual play categories: top play, tombstone play, ttakji play, and tuho play. A student from Daejeon Daeryong Elementary School who participated in the stone tombstone game said, “It was difficult to practice the various steps on my own since it was a sport that was introduced for the first time this year, but my friends practiced with me during break time and thought of various strategies with me, so I had fun practicing. “Participating in this competition has made me interested in other traditional games, and I want to participate in Ttakji Play and Top Play next year,” he said.

On the 18th, the day after the competition, starting with a congratulatory performance of Utdari Nongak Samulnori at Daejeon Daeam Elementary School, 189 students participated in small group play events such as Jegichagi Nori, Long Rope Jumping Nori, Rubber Rope Play, and Daedong Nori events such as Chumnori and Village Play. A contest will be held.

Yang Su-jo, Superintendent of Daejeon Eastern Office of Education, said, “Being interested in traditional culture and knowing how to enjoy traditional games will be a valuable asset for students who will live in the future.” He added, “We will continue to develop future core competencies through folk play competitions.” “We will work hard to spread the culture of play so that we can provide ,” he said.
