Selected for the MAFRA-led Pilot Project Contest, Securing 1.5 Billion KRW in National Funds

Chungcheongnam-do Province announced on the 31st that Yesan-gun County was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA)-led 'Rural Stay-Type Complex Development Pilot Project,' securing 1.5 billion KRW in national funds.

The Rural Stay-Type Complex project involves providing a comprehensive exchange program that connects small-scale accommodation facilities (around 20 units), management facilities including convenience spaces, vegetable gardens for agricultural 체험 (experience), and local tourism and cultural resources for relaxation and leisure.

The selected site for this contest is the Husari area in Eungbong-myeon, Yesan-gun, which is adjacent to the Yesan-Sudeoksa Interchange of the Seosan-Yeongdeok Expressway. With the opening of the Iksan-Pyeongtaek Expressway in December of last year, it is also located just a 5-minute drive from the Yesan Yedangho Interchange, offering excellent accessibility to metropolitan areas with populations of over 500,000, including Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Jeonju, Gwangju, and Daegu.

Furthermore, it is optimally situated for rest, leisure, culture, and tourism, with various cultural and tourism elements centered around the Yedangho Lake tourist area.

With this selection, a total project cost of 3 billion KRW, including 1.5 billion KRW in national funds, will be invested in the project site. This will include the creation of 20 accommodation units, a 2,374㎡ communal vegetable garden, a 145㎡ rest area, 16 parking spaces, and a 54㎡ public restroom. The adjacent Good Rural Experience World Community Support Center will be linked and utilized as a management facility including convenience spaces.

The complex is scheduled for completion in December 2027, and once completed, rental applications will be accepted from urban residents and others wishing to stay in rural areas to realize the '4 Days in the City, 3 Days in the Country*' lifestyle. *4 Days in the City, 3 Days in the Country refers to a lifestyle culture of spending 4 days in the city and 3 days in the countryside per week.

Lee Hyeok-se, head of the Rural Restructuring Division of the Provincial Government, stated, "We expect that the development of the Rural Stay-Type Complex will be effective in attracting a living population to rural areas and will serve as an excellent business model to respond to the crisis of regional extinction."
