SINGAPORE – Neste, a leader in sustainable logistics solutions, and DB Schenker, a global logistics service provider, have joined forces to spearhead the adoption of lower-emission logistics in the Asia Pacific region. The collaboration marks Singapore's first trial of Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ for road transportation, aligning with both companies' strategies for carbon neutrality and their focus on scalable solutions with immediate impact.

Conducted between December 2024 and February 2025, the trial successfully demonstrated DB Schenker's ability to transition to renewable diesel without requiring any modifications to their vehicles or distribution infrastructure. Neste MY Renewable Diesel™, a drop-in alternative to fossil diesel, is compatible with all diesel engines, facilitating its widespread adoption.

Given that Singapore's land transport sector accounts for approximately 15% of the nation's carbon emissions, Neste's solution offers a significant pathway to decarbonize logistics vehicles. The renewable diesel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% over the fuel's entire life cycle.

Ee Pin Lee, Head of Commercial APAC, Renewable Products at Neste, emphasized the significance of the trial: "This collaboration with DB Schenker marks the first time Neste MY Renewable Diesel has been used for road transport in Singapore, 1  demonstrating the crucial role this renewable solution can play in DB Schenker's sustainability journey. We are committed to expanding our cooperation with DB Schenker in Singapore and beyond, contributing to a lower-emission logistics sector."

The partnership builds on a successful precedent in Finland, where DB Schenker already utilizes Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ in its light distribution fleet. The two companies are also jointly piloting high-power charging services for heavy-duty vehicles in Finland, showcasing a multifaceted approach to sustainability.

Christoph Matthes, Senior Vice President, Head of Land Transport in APAC at DB Schenker, stated, "DB Schenker is dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint. We hope that the use of renewable diesel as a viable solution for decarbonizing our land transport operations in the region will inspire our partners and customers to join us in transforming the entire industry."

Neste MY Renewable Diesel™: This high-quality fuel is produced from 100% renewable raw materials, including waste and residues and used cooking oil. Its chemical composition is similar to conventional diesel, allowing for immediate use without engine modifications. It also offers lower emissions of harmful substances upon combustion, making it an environmentally sound alternative.

DB Schenker's Sustainability Efforts: DB Schenker has set ambitious targets to reduce its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. The company is actively pursuing various green initiatives, including the adoption of electric vehicles and the increased use of sustainable aviation fuels.

Singapore's Carbon Reduction Initiatives: Singapore aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and is implementing various policies to decarbonize its land transport sector, such as promoting electric vehicle adoption and improving public transportation systems. The trial by Neste and DB Schenker is a significant step towards these goals.
