A showcase of carefully selected winning works and invitation works spanning Hangeul (Korean alphabet), Chinese characters, literati painting, and calligraphy

Held for four days from October 20 to 23 at the Sejong Civic Center Small Auditorium

The Sejong Branch of the Korea Calligraphy Association (led by Branch President Jang Bok-soon) announced that it has selected 142 winning entries for the 15th Sejong Special Self-Governing City Calligraphy Grand Exhibition and Invitational Exhibition, and will hold a four-day art exhibition from October 20 to 23 at the small auditorium of the Sejong Civic Center (Sejong Cultural Center). The award ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM on the 20th in the exhibition room of the Sejong Cultural Center.

Hosted and organized by the Sejong Branch of the Korea Calligraphy Association, this year's competition received a total of 250 entries across various categories including Hangeul, Chinese characters, literati painting, and calligraphy. Submissions were accepted from June 22 to 26, and the final winners were determined on July 3 through evaluations by a panel of judges composed of national exhibition invited artists.

The awards include 2 Excellence Awards, 2 Encouragement Awards, 2 Art Awards, 8 Samcheesang (Three-Body) Awards, and 47 Special Selections, offering visitors a chance to appreciate a diverse range of works by artists active in calligraphy, traditional, and contemporary art fields all in one place.

Additionally, an "Invitational Exhibition" will run concurrently, featuring around 70 works by mid-career artists who have led Sejong's calligraphy culture, adding even more richness to the event.

This calligraphy grand exhibition was designed to contribute to regional cultural and artistic development, popularize traditional and modern calligraphy, support creative activities for artists, and discover and nurture capable emerging artists. The exhibition of winning works is expected to provide an opportunity to share the beauty of traditional and contemporary art and broaden the foundation of local culture and arts.

Furthermore, true to Sejong City's identity as a "Hangeul City," national and Sejong calligraphy exhibition invited artists plan to host a "Writing Happy Family and Beautiful Hangeul Family Mottos" event, generating a great deal of interest.

Jang Bok-soon, President of the Sejong Branch of the Korea Calligraphy Association, remarked, "Through works filled with the passion of artists who have strived for years, visitors will be able to experience the depth of art, deep interest, and a new realm of experience. We hope for great public interest so that we can reflect on the value of traditional culture delivered to Sejong citizens over the 15 years since the establishment of Sejong City, and contribute to the development of culture and arts."
