Yesan County announced on April 23rd that the '52nd Yun Bong-gil Peace Festival' will be held from April 26th to 27th at Chunguisa Shrine in Deoksan-myeon. The festival, organized by the Maeheon Yun Bong-gil Woljinhoe (Memorial Society), will commemorate the spirit and legacy of the independence activist Yun Bong-gil under the theme "Yun Bong-gil, I Chose the Path of Peace."

The two-day event will feature a variety of programs held at significant locations related to Yun Bong-gil's life, including the Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall, Jeohandang Hall, and Dochungdo Island. This year's festival aims to be more interactive and family-friendly, with newly added amenities such as Indian tents for family rest areas and enhanced experiential activities designed for children and families to enjoy together.

Key programs include a six-stage mission tour following Yun Bong-gil's journey for peace and a docent program in collaboration with the local creative group 'Go Local.' Visitors can also participate in a drawing contest and a poetry recitation contest. The festival will also offer various attractions such as a bubble show and a traditional tightrope walking performance by a renowned master.

A special highlight of the festival will be the recording of KBS's popular national singing contest, 'National Singing Contest (전국노래자랑),' which will take place at 2 PM on April 26th at the Chunguisa parking lot. This event is expected to draw participants of all ages and further enliven the festival atmosphere.

Yun Bong-gil (1908-1932) was a significant figure in the Korean independence movement against Japanese colonial rule. His notable act of resistance was the bombing at Shanghai's Hongkou Park in 1932, targeting high-ranking Japanese officials. This courageous act significantly boosted the morale of the Korean independence movement and garnered international attention. Chunguisa Shrine, located in Yesan, is dedicated to his memory and houses his tomb and memorial hall, serving as a place of remembrance and education about his life and patriotic deeds. The Maeheon Yun Bong-gil Woljinhoe actively organizes events and maintains facilities to honor Yun Bong-gil's legacy.

For detailed schedules, program information, and parking details related to the festival, the public can refer to the official Yun Bong-gil Peace Festival blog and Instagram accounts. The Yesan County administration encourages widespread participation in this meaningful event that commemorates a pivotal figure in Korea's struggle for independence and offers engaging activities for all attendees.
