DAEJEON, South Korea – Daejeon City is set to launch a comprehensive, hands-on training program for aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners, commencing this June. This initiative, offered entirely free of charge, aims to equip participants with the essential skills needed for successful business ventures, from initial startup to advanced management strategies. The program emphasizes practical application, incorporating online platform utilization and real-world operational know-how, promising highly effective support for the city's small business ecosystem.

The 'Small Business Startup and Management Improvement Education' will run in phases from June to November. The curriculum is designed to enhance entrepreneurial capabilities and strengthen the management prowess of both prospective and current small business owners.

Training sessions will be held at the Licon Town on the 4th floor of the Daejeon Credit Guarantee Foundation. The program is structured into three main components: 16 practical courses covering topics such as Naver platform marketing strategies, field-oriented mentoring, and benchmarking excursions to successful commercial districts. All aspects of the program are provided free of charge.

This educational initiative moves beyond purely theoretical instruction, focusing instead on practical content that can be immediately applied in real-world business scenarios. Key courses include detailed guidance on utilizing Naver Smart Place, commercial district analysis using big data and AI, and promotional strategies tailored to recent consumer trends. This focus on digital literacy and data-driven decision-making reflects the evolving demands of the modern market.

Furthermore, participants will benefit from direct knowledge transfer through mentoring sessions with successful small business owners, gaining invaluable practical experience and insights. The program also includes benchmarking visits to observe and learn from successful business models in other regions, fostering a broader understanding of effective strategies.

Applications for the program are accepted on an ongoing basis until September 21st. More detailed information can be found on the Daejeon Small and Medium Business Support Portal, Daejeon Biz (www.djbea.or.kr/biz). For inquiries, interested parties can contact the Daejeon Economic Promotion Agency at 042-380-3064.

Daejeon City has a long-standing commitment to supporting its small business community, having consistently operated startup and management improvement education programs since 2010. Last year alone, approximately 240 individuals participated, with the program reporting high levels of satisfaction among attendees. This continued investment underscores the city's dedication to fostering a robust and resilient local economy.

Kwon Kyung-min, Director-General of Daejeon City's Economic Bureau, emphasized the critical importance of systematic preparation before launching a business, especially given the recent surge in self-employment business closures. "In a climate where the self-employment closure rate is reaching unprecedented highs, thorough preparation before embarking on a business venture is absolutely essential," said Director-General Kwon. "We anticipate this education will provide practical assistance to small business owners, helping them mitigate risks and establish a foundation for sustainable management."
