YEONGDONG, North Chungcheong Province – Yeongdong County is set to host its third annual 'On(溫) Family Festival' on June 21st, an event designed to foster cultural exchange and understanding among its diverse residents. Organized by the Yeongdong-gun Family Center, the festival will commence at 10 AM at the Yeongdong Gymnasium, promising a day of unity and shared experiences for all.

The 'On(溫) Family Festival' serves as a vibrant platform where various family structures within the community—including multicultural families, non-multicultural families, and single-person households—can converge. This year's iteration continues the tradition of creating opportunities for meaningful cultural interaction and communication. The itinerary includes an array of engaging activities such as pre-celebration performances, an awards ceremony for those contributing to healthy family support, interactive family recreation programs, and a lively family singing contest. A highlight for younger attendees will be the 13 family experience booths. Additionally, the 'World Food Festival' will run concurrently, offering a culinary journey with over 15 types of dishes from seven different countries, including Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand, reflecting the rich tapestry of cultures present in the region.

The initiative underscores Yeongdong County's commitment to supporting its growing multicultural population and promoting social cohesion. Events like the 'On(溫) Family Festival' are crucial in a nation where multicultural households continue to increase, with over 385,000 such families recorded as of 2021, and diverse family types becoming more prevalent. The Yeongdong-gun Family Center plays a pivotal role in this endeavor, providing essential services such as language development, interpretation, and various support programs aimed at facilitating the integration and well-being of multicultural families.

Kang Soo-sung, head of the Yeongdong-gun Family Center, emphasized the significance of the upcoming event, stating, "We are dedicating our utmost efforts to ensure this becomes a meaningful time for all families to gather, understand, and respect each other's cultures." The festival embodies a broader vision of building a community where diversity is celebrated, and mutual respect flourishes, reinforcing the county's dedication to creating an inclusive environment for all residents. This ongoing effort aims to deepen community bonds and cultivate a healthier, more harmonious family culture throughout Yeongdong.
