Expansion of Cultural Opportunities Supports Stable Settlement of Multicultural Families… Contributes to Community Integration

Chief Prosecutor Lee Wan-hee Expresses Commitment to Creating a Safe and Warm Society Without Discrimination

The Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Public Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Wan-hee) and the Socially Vulnerable Committee (Chairman Kim Yoon-soo) of the Pohang Regional Council for Crime Prevention (Chairman Na Joo-young) successfully held the 'Harmony of Heart Classical Music Concert' on June 10th at Hyojasang Art Hall in Pohang, inviting over 400 multicultural families from the region. This concert was organized to help multicultural families stably settle in Korea, a society that is increasingly becoming multicultural, and to provide unforgettable joy and meaningful time for their children who often lack opportunities for cultural experiences.

In recent years, the proportion of multicultural populations in Korean society has steadily increased due to marriage migration and the influx of foreign workers, making their successful social integration a critical task for our society. Particularly, there is a growing demand for practical support and emotional exchange platforms for multicultural families who are more likely to experience cultural isolation due to language and cultural barriers. Against this backdrop, the collaboration between the prosecution and local private cooperation organizations to provide opportunities for artistic enjoyment is evaluated as a meaningful attempt by the local community to embrace multicultural members. It is analyzed that the concert, through the universal language of music, greatly contributed to multicultural family members empathizing and forming bonds beyond cultural barriers.

The concert was attended by key officials from the Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Public Prosecutors' Office, including Chief Prosecutor Lee Wan-hee, Chief Prosecutor of Criminal Division 1 Ko Eun-byeol, Chief Prosecutor of Criminal Division 2 Kim Young-joo, Juvenile Prosecutor Byeon Min-hoo, and Office Manager Lee Ho-jong, who warmly welcomed the multicultural families. From the Pohang Regional Council for Crime Prevention, Chairman Na Joo-young, Senior Vice Chairman Lee Bok-woo, Chairman of the Socially Vulnerable Committee Kim Yoon-soo, Vice Chairman Park Seung-min, Operations Committee members Jang Hyuk-jun and Son Wi-hyeok, and about 20 other committee members graced the event. Additionally, Team Leader Lee Yoon-ah and other officials from the Pohang City Family Center also attended, showing deep interest in the event. Over 400 multicultural family members gathered at the concert hall, enjoying the diverse classical melodies and creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

In his welcoming remarks, Chief Prosecutor Lee Wan-hee of the Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Public Prosecutors' Office emphasized, "Although we come from different backgrounds and cultures, we live together here in Korea and share the same dreams." He further expressed his firm commitment, stating, "We will continue to do our best to create a society where all members of our society, regardless of their background or origin, do not suffer any discrimination and can all live safely and warmly." This is interpreted as a message that the prosecution, beyond mere law enforcement, will take the lead in practicing the community's responsibility to embrace and unite with socially vulnerable groups.

The 'Harmony of Heart Classical Music Concert' not only contributed to satisfying the cultural thirst and providing emotional stability for multicultural families but also presented a model case for social integration through cooperation between public institutions and private councils in the region. The Pohang Branch and the Pohang Regional Council for Crime Prevention plan to expand their activities to protect and support socially vulnerable groups, including multicultural families, and strengthen communication with the local community to create a safer and more harmonious society. It is expected that these continuous efforts will serve as an important foundation for multicultural members to firmly root themselves in Korean society and grow into proud citizens.
