The Four Seasons of the Haegeum Meet Piazzolla's Four Seasons, Embracing Infinity

The Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center will hold a special performance, <Eternal Seasons With Danny Koo>, on Wednesday, May 21st at 7:30 PM at the grand hall of the Korean Traditional Music Center, commemorating the 10th anniversary of its relocation to the new venue. This unique stage will feature the harmonious blend of the Haegeum and the violin, representative string instruments of the East and West.

The performance will weave together the 'Four Seasons of the Earth' expressed through the Korean Haegeum and 'The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires' by Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, creating eight new seasons, or 'Eternal Seasons.' Haegeum player Chun Ji-yoon expands the horizons of Korean music with her interpretations that transcend tradition and modernity, newly recreating Piazzolla's innovative tango spirit on the Haegeum.

In Korean traditional culture, the number '8' symbolizes circulation and eternity. Based on this, Chun Ji-yoon expands the four seasons into eight, artistically interpreting the cyclical aesthetics of tradition through music.

The performance will begin with a 'Binari' (a traditional blessing song) and then depict the flow of the four seasons through the 'Jiyeonghee-ryu Haegeum Sanjo' (Jinyang to Jajinmori movements) and various rhythmic patterns of Gyeonggi folk music, capturing the emotions of Korean tradition.

The 'Four Seasons of the Earth' on the Haegeum will feature traditional percussionists Lee Min-hyung and Cho Bong-guk, while Piazzolla's 'The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires' will be presented as a quartet with Choi Jin-bae (bass), Lee Han-eol (piano), and Choi Seung-hwan (percussion).

Notably, classical violinist Danny Koo will appear as a special guest, adding depth to the performance. Koo, who began his activities in Korea as a guest member of Ensemble DITTO, has established himself as a versatile performer with both public appeal and artistic excellence through his appearances on entertainment programs such as 'I Live Alone' and 'King of Mask Singer.'

An official from the Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center stated, "We hope many citizens will join us for this meaningful performance celebrating our 10th anniversary."

Ticket reservations are available on the Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center website (www.daejeon.go.kr/kmusic) and Interpark (ticket.interpark.com). For other inquiries, please contact the Korean Traditional Music Center at ☎042-270-8500.
