Volvo XC40 Black Edition Sells Out in Record Time in South Korea

SEOUL, South Korea – Volvo Cars Korea today announced a rapid sell-out of its highly anticipated XC40 Black Edition, with all 100 units made available online being snatched up in just 15 minutes. This remarkable feat further solidifies the XC40's burgeoning popularity and prestigious standing within the competitive premium compact SUV segment, both domestically and globally.

The swift sell-out marks another chapter in the XC40's history of instant success in South Korea. Previous limited editions, including the XC40 Sage Green Edition (sold out in 3 minutes), XC40 Dark Edition (4 minutes), and a prior iteration of the XC40 Black Edition (7 minutes), all experienced similar unprecedented demand. This re-launched Black Edition, identical to the model that sold out last October, reiterates the model's strong appeal to Korean consumers.

Globally, the Volvo XC40 has cemented its position as a best-selling model, having been recognized as the "European Car of the Year" in 2018 and maintaining its leadership as the top-selling premium compact SUV in Europe for four consecutive years since 2020. In the South Korean market, the XC40 has showcased exceptional product competitiveness, leading imported compact SUV sales with 1,105 units sold from January to May this year.

The exclusive XC40 Black Edition, priced at 56.1 million KRW (approximately 42,075 USD), is based on the top-tier Ultra trim, integrating flagship-level specifications with distinctive aesthetic enhancements. Its exterior features a singular Onyx Black finish, complemented by black accents on the front Iron Mark logo and rear lettering, replacing traditional chrome elements. The vehicle's sleek appeal is further accentuated by 20-inch 5-spoke black high-gloss wheels.

Inside, the Black Edition boasts a sophisticated and modern cabin. It replaces the conventional drift wood material with cutting-edge aluminum deco, and the Orrefors crystal gear knob is swapped for a premium leather black gear knob. Charcoal-colored seats provide a refined contrast to the interior's overall dark theme, elevating the cabin's chic ambiance.

Further enhancing the ownership experience, the XC40 Black Edition is equipped with Volvo's "integrated TMAP infotainment system," co-developed with TMAP Mobility. This advanced system aims to deliver a continuously evolving and enriched driving experience. Volvo Cars Korea also reinforces its commitment to customer satisfaction by offering an industry-leading service package, including a 5-year or 100,000 km general parts warranty, complimentary consumables exchange service, 15 years of free over-the-air (OTA) updates, and a 5-year complimentary 5G digital package. These comprehensive benefits underscore Volvo's dedication to providing a premium and worry-free ownership journey for an extended period.
