DAEJEON, South Korea – Daejeon City, in collaboration with Hana Bank, is set to launch the 'Kkumssi Family Hana Account' this June, a financial product specifically designed for infants and young children in the city. This initiative, stemming from a winning proposal in the 2024 Civil Servant Proposal Contest, aims to foster financial literacy from a young age while leveraging the beloved 'Kkumssi Family' characters to resonate with citizens.

The 'Kkumssi Family Hana Account' comprises both a deposit/withdrawal account and a savings account, adorned with the familiar and endearing 'Kkumssi Family' characters, adding an emotional connection for users. The financial incentives offered by this new product are particularly noteworthy. The deposit/withdrawal account offers an attractive annual interest rate of up to 2.5%, while the savings account boasts a remarkable up to 8% annual interest rate. Furthermore, 'Kkumssi Savings' account holders who open a new Housing Subscription Savings account in their child's name will receive an additional 20,000 Hana Money points.

The officialization of this partnership took place on May 19th at Daejeon City Hall, with Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo and Lee Dong-yeol, Vice President of Hana Bank's Chungcheong Sales Group, in attendance. This collaboration marks a significant step in integrating the 'Kkumssi Family' characters into financial products, not only to convey messages of hope and dreams to the region's children but also to expand the scope of character utilization beyond traditional mediums.

The 'Kkumssi Family,' a collection of endearing characters, holds significant cultural importance in Daejeon. They serve as mascots for the city, often seen in various promotional materials and events, symbolizing Daejeon's vibrant spirit and its connection to the legacy of the 1993 Daejeon Expo. The characters are a nostalgic nod to the past while simultaneously representing the city's aspirations for the future. By incorporating these beloved characters into a financial product, Daejeon City aims to strengthen its identity and enhance its brand value, connecting the cherished memories of the Daejeon Expo with the bright future of its children.

This innovative collaboration between Daejeon City and Hana Bank is expected to be well-received by families, offering not only attractive financial benefits but also a meaningful way to engage children with financial planning from an early age, all while celebrating Daejeon's unique cultural heritage.
