DAEJEON, SOUTH KOREA - Daejeon Metropolitan City has announced a significant expansion of its 'Self-Employment Doctor System' for 2025, signaling a strong commitment to the revitalization and sustainable growth of local small business owners. The enhanced program offers increased financial support and more favorable terms, aiming to provide a crucial lifeline for entrepreneurs navigating economic challenges.

The 'Self-Employment Doctor System' provides tailored one-on-one business consulting to both existing and aspiring small business owners in Daejeon. Following a thorough diagnosis of their business needs, participants can receive financial assistance for implementing recommended improvements. Notably, the program also extends support to those facing inevitable business closure, helping to alleviate the financial burden of winding down operations and facilitating a potential fresh start.

This year's iteration of the program features substantial increases in financial aid. The maximum subsidy for business improvement has been raised from 2.5 million KRW to 3 million KRW. Furthermore, the required self-contribution from business owners has been significantly reduced from 20% to just 10%, making the support more accessible. For businesses needing to close, the support for closure arrangements has also been increased from 2 million KRW to a maximum of 2.5 million KRW.

To be eligible for consulting and business improvement support, small business owners must have operated their business in Daejeon for at least six months as of the program announcement date. Prospective entrepreneurs residing in Daejeon are also eligible to apply. The application period for this track closes on April 30th, with final selections based on an evaluation process.

Support for business closure is available to small business owners who have closed or plan to close their businesses after the announcement date. Applications for this support are accepted on an ongoing, first-come, first-served basis until the allocated budget is fully utilized, with a deadline of October 31st.

Kwon Kyung-min, Director-General of Daejeon Metropolitan City's Economy and Industry Bureau, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, "The Self-Employment Doctor System is a core project that provides small business owners with customized business diagnosis and prescriptions, laying the foundation for practical recovery and re-emergence." He further added, "We will continue to actively promote detailed and effective policies so that small business owners can overcome management crises and grow stably."

Detailed information about the '2025 Self-Employment Doctor System' can be found on the Daejeon Small and Medium Enterprise Support Portal (www.djbea.or.kr/biz). Inquiries can also be directed to the Daejeon Job and Economy Promotion Agency at ☎042-380-3062. This enhanced program underscores Daejeon's commitment to fostering a resilient and thriving small business ecosystem within the city.
