Cairo, Egypt – Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has introduced its innovative "Tap-to-Add Card" feature to the Egyptian market. This groundbreaking solution aims to accelerate the adoption of digital wallets by offering a more secure and streamlined process for adding Visa contactless cards to mobile devices.

The "Tap-to-Add Card" feature significantly enhances security and convenience by eliminating the need for manual card entry, a process prone to errors and vulnerable to fraud. Cardholders can now simply tap their contactless Visa card on their mobile device to securely add it to their digital wallet. This action generates a unique, one-time code validated by Visa’s Chip Authenticate service, ensuring the secure provisioning of card credentials.

Malak El Baba, Visa's Country Manager and Vice President for Egypt, emphasized Visa's commitment to innovation and digital transformation: "We are always keen to introduce innovative and integrated solutions that meet the evolving needs of consumers and keep pace with the rapid global transformation in digital payments. The ‘Tap-to-Add Card’ feature will boost customer confidence and encourage wider adoption of digital payments."

El Baba further highlighted the feature's dual focus on speed and security: "Our goal is to empower individuals and businesses with cutting-edge technologies that offer both speed and security. The ‘Tap-to-Add Card’ feature leverages advanced technology to protect cardholder data from fraud attempts while also saving users time and effort by eliminating the need for manual card entry—delivering a faster, easier, and more secure experience. Visa takes pride in being a key player in Egypt’s digital transformation journey and remains committed to supporting the country’s electronic payment ecosystem, reinforcing its dedication to advancing Egypt’s ambitious vision of becoming a cashless, technology-driven society."

"Tap-to-Add Card" is designed to benefit all stakeholders within the payment ecosystem. For cardholders, it provides a seamless experience similar to in-store contactless payments, encouraging greater adoption of digital wallets. For card issuers, it reduces the risk and costs associated with provisioning fraud, simplifies the add-to-wallet process, minimizes customer service inquiries, and improves transaction approval rates.

Adhering to Visa’s stringent security standards, "Tap-to-Add Card" minimizes the risk of card breaches and enhances overall security by eliminating manual data entry errors. Its global popularity since its launch underscores its effectiveness in simplifying digital wallet enrollment and reinforces Visa’s dedication to delivering innovative payment solutions that meet market demands and enhance digital payment experiences.

The introduction of "Tap-to-Add Card" in Egypt marks a significant step towards a more secure and efficient digital payment landscape, aligning with the nation's vision for a cashless society.
