- Chungju City launches a major tourism promotion offering substantial lodging discounts through July and August.
- Travelers can save up to 50,000 won by booking certified hotels, pensions, and campsites via major platforms.

As the peak summer vacation season approaches, local governments across South Korea are rolling out competitive incentives to attract travelers. Notably, Chungju City has introduced a targeted accommodation support program designed to alleviate lodging expenses for visitors choosing Chungju as their summer getaway destination.

According to Chungju City, tourists visiting the region during July and August can receive substantial discount coupons when booking accommodation products through designated online travel agencies (OTAs), namely Yanolja, Here Here (Yeogi Eottae), and Thankyou Camping.

A key highlight of this year's promotion is its broad inclusivity. Unlike programs restricted solely to traditional hotels and motels, Chungju City has intentionally included registered campsites, reflecting the rising popularity of camping and outdoor leisure among modern travelers.

Discount Structure and Schedule

The summer special exhibition discount coupons will be issued starting July 1 and running through July 10. Once downloaded, these coupons remain valid for use until August 31, covering the entirety of the peak summer holiday period.

The discount scale is applied differentially based on the total reservation amount:

Reservations of 100,000 won or more receive a 50,000 won discount.
Reservations of 50,000 won or more (up to 100,000 won) receive a 30,000 won discount.
Reservations between 30,000 won and 50,000 won receive a 20,000 won discount.
This tiered system ensures that budget travelers, families, and campers alike can benefit from proportional savings tailored to their choice of lodging.

Expanding Stay-Over Tourism in Chungju

Chungju City officials expect this promotional campaign to significantly reduce the financial burden on vacationers while driving sustained growth in regional stay-over tourism. By encouraging visitors to spend more than just a single day in the area, the city hopes to stimulate local spending at restaurants, cafes, and tourist attractions.

Chungju is widely celebrated for its rich natural and cultural assets, making it an ideal destination for summer travelers. Key highlights that draw visitors to the region include:

Tangeum Lake and Chungju Lake (Choongjuho): Offering breathtaking scenic views, boat cruises, and vibrant water leisure sports.
Suanbo Hot Springs: A historic hot spring destination renowned for its natural mineral-rich waters, perfect for relaxation after outdoor activities.
Central Police Training Academy and Eco Sports Park: Providing expansive green spaces and recreational facilities.
Rich Culinary Culture: Famous for local delicacies such as Chungju Apple-infused foods and fresh freshwater fish dishes.
With the combination of direct financial support for lodging and the city's diverse tourism portfolio, Chungju aims to cement its status as a premier domestic summer travel destination. Travelers planning a trip are encouraged to check the designated platforms early during the July coupon issuance window to secure their discounts.
