Cheonan City and the Korea Football Association (KFA) are embarking on a quest to rename the soon-to-be-completed Korea National Football Center, with the aim of finding a moniker that resonates with the facility's significance as a hub for Korean football. The state-of-the-art training complex is slated to open in July and will house the training facilities for the national football teams, alongside community sports amenities provided by Cheonan City, including an indoor gymnasium and a football history museum.

From April 23rd to May 2nd, Cheonan City is conducting a nationwide online survey to gauge public preference for four shortlisted names that encapsulate the unique characteristics and value of the football center. These candidate names were carefully selected through a comprehensive study to ensure they reflect the essence of football and the multifaceted nature of the facility, catering to both professional athletes and the general public.

The four name candidates are:

Park Eleven: This name emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, the fundamental principles of football, envisioning the center as a vibrant space where everyone can experience and share the joy of the sport.
Korea Eleven: Rooted in tradition while embracing a future-oriented vision, this name signifies a place where passion and dreams for Korean football are nurtured.
Korea Park: Positioned as a representative multi-cultural complex of South Korea, this name highlights the center as an open and engaging space for all.
Park Field: This option underscores the center's role in supporting the growth and development of Korean football, while also emphasizing its function as a space for communication and collaboration with the local community through football.
The terms used in the candidate names carry specific symbolic weight. "Park" represents a communal area for leisure and enjoyment, while "Eleven" simultaneously alludes to the eleven players in a football team and the eleven football pitches within the complex. "Korea" explicitly denotes the facility's status as a national representative landmark, and "Field" signifies the central space for matches and training, where athletes and enthusiasts can actively engage in the sport.

The online survey is open to all citizens and can be accessed through banners and QR codes posted on the websites and social media channels of Cheonan City and the KFA.

Park Sang-don, the Mayor of Cheonan City, emphasized the importance of this naming initiative, stating, "The naming of the Korea National Football Center will be a crucial element in shaping a new city brand for Cheonan, the mecca of Korean football. We encourage widespread participation and interest in this preference survey."

Following the survey, Cheonan City and the KFA will finalize the new name for the Korea National Football Center based on the public's feedback. Subsequently, they will commence the development of a comprehensive brand identity (BI) to further solidify the center's image and recognition.

Additional Information Gathered:

Further research reveals that the construction of the Korea National Football Center represents a significant investment in the future of Korean football. The facility is expected to not only provide world-class training grounds for national teams across all age groups but also serve as a vital hub for grassroots football development and community engagement. The inclusion of a football history museum aims to preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of Korean football, inspiring future generations of players and fans.

The strategic location of the center in Cheonan, a city with a strong sporting tradition and excellent transport links, further underscores its potential to become a central pillar of Korean football. The collaboration between Cheonan City and the KFA highlights a shared vision for promoting the sport at all levels and leveraging the new facility to enhance the nation's footballing prowess on the international stage. The nationwide survey reflects a commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that the new name resonates with the entire Korean population, fostering a sense of national pride and ownership of this landmark footballing institution.
