Cheonan, South Korea - The Cheonan City delegation recently concluded a visit to the United States, where they engaged with officials in Prince George's County (PG County) and participated in the '2025 World Korean Business Convention' in Atlanta. The trip, spanning from April 15th to 20th, aimed to solidify international business networks and explore avenues for local enterprises to expand into overseas markets, the city announced on April 21st.

The delegation, led by Cheonan Vice Mayor Kim Seok-pil, dedicated a portion of their visit to Prince George's County, Cheonan's international friendship city. Discussions centered on invigorating exchanges in various sectors, including society, economy, and culture, fostering mutual development between the two regions. This engagement underscores Cheonan's commitment to strengthening its global partnerships at the sub-national level.

Following their engagements in PG County, the delegation actively participated in the '2025 World Korean Business Convention' held in Atlanta from April 17th to 20th (local time). The convention served as a crucial platform for the Cheonan representatives to support the eleven local companies that participated, primarily comprised of promising startups. The delegation focused on strengthening connections with Korean business leaders from around the world and identifying strategies to facilitate the entry of Cheonan-based businesses into international markets.

This year marked the second time the prestigious World Korean Business Convention has been held in the United States, highlighting the growing global influence of the Korean diaspora in the business world. Cheonan's participation saw a strong contingent of innovative companies, including ㈜Green AI, ㈜AdAable, and Dicolab, among others. These enterprises actively engaged in various programs offered at the convention, such as one-on-one business matchmaking meetings, startup pitching competitions, and venture capital investment forums.

Notably, ㈜Green AI distinguished itself by winning the Innovation Award at the startup pitching competition, showcasing the technological prowess and potential of Cheonan's emerging businesses on an international stage. This recognition not only brings prestige to the company but also elevates the profile of Cheonan as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Vice Mayor Kim Seok-pil expressed his optimism regarding the outcomes of the trip, stating, "It is our sincere hope that the small and medium-sized enterprises of Cheonan will leverage this convention as a stepping stone to expand beyond Korea and venture into the global arena." His remarks underscore the city's strategic focus on fostering the international growth of its local businesses, recognizing the importance of global markets for sustained economic development and innovation.

The city's proactive approach in engaging with international partners and supporting its local businesses at global events like the World Korean Business Convention signals a clear commitment to realizing its vision of 'Global Cheonan.' By building strong international networks and providing opportunities for its enterprises to connect with global markets, Cheonan aims to enhance its economic dynamism and solidify its position as a significant player in the international business landscape. The recent U.S. visit represents a significant step in this ongoing endeavor, promising potential for increased international collaboration and economic opportunities for Cheonan and its burgeoning businesses.
