The special concert I, 'Please, Mozart,' will be held on April 24th (Thursday) at 7:30 PM at the Daejeon Arts Center Ensemble Hall, promising a special stage to fully appreciate Mozart's brilliant musical legacy.
This performance is prepared with a program that highlights Mozart's diverse charms. In the first part, soprano Gu Eun-kyung will join as a soloist to present major arias from the opera 'The Marriage of Figaro.' After opening the concert with the cheerful overture to 'The Marriage of Figaro,' Gu Eun-kyung will deliver the Countess's poignant arias, "Porgi amor, qualche ristoro" ("Grant love, some comfort to my sorrow") and "Dove sono i bei momenti" ("Where are the beautiful moments"), conveying deep emotion to the audience.
Soprano Gu Eun-kyung graduated from the Korea National University of Arts and further obtained diplomas from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan and the Viotti Civic Academy in Vercelli, Italy. She is also actively performing on major domestic stages such as the Korea National Opera, Seoul Metropolitan Opera, and Daejeon Opera Company.
The second part will feature young flutist Lee Da-ryeong, a rising talent in Daejeon's classical music scene. She will perform Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 1, known for its delicate and elegant melodies, aiming to inherit the spirit of Mozart's music and connect with the audience through her ambitious performance.
Flutist Lee Da-ryeong is currently a second-year student at Daejeon Arts High School and has won awards in competitions such as the Music Education Newspaper Competition and the CBS National Youth Music Competition. She has also been recognized for her outstanding talent through her completion of the Daejeon Arts Center Academy for the Gifted and the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts.
The concert will conclude with Mozart's Symphony No. 35 in D major, K. 385, 'Haffner,' composed for the Haffner family's festive occasions in Salzburg. This work is a representative piece in which Mozart established his symphonic style, and he expressed pride in it in a letter to his father.
