JEONGEUP, North Jeolla Province—Jeongeup City is mobilizing all efforts to ensure a safe, pleasant, and orderly visit for tourists flocking to Naejangsan National Park, one of South Korea's premier autumn foliage destinations. The city has announced a comprehensive plan to eliminate illegal activities and improve visitor experience, spearheaded by the new 'Three No' Campaign targeting No Solicitation, No Price Gouging, and No Illegal Vending.

The city's determination was solidified in a final planning meeting held on October 10th at Jeongeup City Hall. Mayor Lee Hak-soo chaired the session, which included key personnel from the city's tourism, environment, transportation, sanitation, and safety departments, as well as representatives from the Jeongeup Police Station, Fire Station, and the Naejangsan National Park Office. The meeting established a joint-agency approach for seamless execution of the security and order plan.

Peak Season Management and Foliage Forecast

The city has designated the 28-day period from October 20th to November 16th as the Special Operations Period, with the period between October 25th and November 9th marked as the Intensive Management Period to coincide with the predicted peak of the autumn colors. The spectacular maple foliage at Naejangsan is expected to begin around October 24th and reach its breathtaking peak around November 5th, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors.

To manage the anticipated crowds, the city will deploy an average of 214 personnel daily, totaling 4,144 staff members throughout the operation period. Their duties will span comprehensive visitor management, including:

Tourist Information and Guidance
Order Maintenance and Public Awareness
Waste Management and Environmental Cleanliness
Traffic Control and Management
Sanitation and Safety Oversight
Focus on 'Three No' Campaign and Law Enforcement

A central pillar of the city's strategy is cracking down on persistent issues that have long marred the visitor experience. Administrative power will be concentrated on enforcing the 'Three No' Campaign, which strictly prohibits:

No Solicitation (Ho-gaek): Eliminating aggressive sales tactics by restaurants and taxi drivers.
No Price Gouging (Ba-ga-ji): Operating a dedicated reporting center for overcharging and ensuring fair pricing.
No Illegal Vending (Bul-beop Pan-mae): Intensified monitoring and crackdown on illegal street vendors and the sale of substandard food products.
In addition to these focused efforts, the city will also actively control excessive noise from street performers and other sources. Furthermore, the city plans to collaborate closely with the Naejangsan Merchant Association to encourage self-regulation and voluntary participation in maintaining order among local businesses.

A city official commented on the initiative, stating, "Through this reinforced measure, we will eradicate illegal acts during the fall foliage season and establish order across traffic, environment, sanitation, and safety management. We aim to provide a secure and pleasant environment for all visitors, solidifying Jeongeup's image as a dignified and high-quality tourist city."

The proactive steps taken by Jeongeup are set to enhance the natural splendor of Naejangsan, ensuring that the mountain's famed crimson leaves remain the main focus for all who visit this autumn.
