Hyundai Motor Company has announced its remarkable success at the U.S. News & World Report's 2025 Best Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Awards, securing accolades for three of its distinguished models, including the highly acclaimed IONIQ 5. The prestigious awards, revealed on April 18th, underscore Hyundai's growing prominence and technological prowess in the rapidly evolving electric and hybrid vehicle market.

The 2025 Best Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Awards by U.S. News & World Report represent a comprehensive evaluation of the burgeoning electrified vehicle landscape. Editors meticulously assessed a total of 115 electric and hybrid models, applying stringent criteria encompassing overall quality, efficiency, and value proposition. This rigorous evaluation process culminated in the selection of ten winning vehicles across both hybrid and electric categories, with five awards presented in each segment.

Hyundai emerged as a dominant force in this competitive arena, clinching a total of three awards across both electric and hybrid segments. This significant achievement marks the second consecutive year that Hyundai has earned the distinction of being the most awarded automotive brand in these influential rankings. The company's consistent success reflects its commitment to innovation and its ability to deliver compelling and competitive electrified vehicles to the North American market.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5, a groundbreaking electric SUV, was recognized as the "Best Electric SUV" of 2025. The vehicle garnered high praise for its well-balanced performance capabilities and its exceptionally stable and comfortable ride quality. Jack Doel, an editor at U.S. News & World Report, lauded the IONIQ 5, stating, "The IONIQ 5 is an outstanding electric SUV that excels in style, spaciousness, and overall performance." He further highlighted the enhanced appeal of the 2025 model, noting its increased EPA-estimated driving range on a single charge and the integration of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, which significantly bolsters its competitiveness within the electric SUV segment. The adoption of NACS is a crucial development, providing IONIQ 5 owners with broader access to the expanding charging infrastructure across North America.

Adding to Hyundai's triumph in the electric vehicle category, the IONIQ 6 was honored as the "Best Electric Car." This sleek and aerodynamically efficient electric sedan impressed the editors with its exceptional energy efficiency (leading to superior range) and its user-friendly infotainment system. The IONIQ 6's ability to combine impressive electric performance with a seamless and intuitive technological interface resonated strongly with the evaluation criteria. Its design, inspired by the concept of "streamliner" aesthetics, not only contributes to its striking visual appeal but also enhances its aerodynamic efficiency, maximizing its driving range.

Hyundai's success extended beyond its all-electric offerings, with the Tucson Hybrid earning the title of "Best Hybrid SUV." The Tucson Hybrid distinguished itself through its compelling design, generous interior space, and impressive fuel economy figures. This recognition underscores Hyundai's ability to deliver efficient and stylish hybrid options that cater to a broad range of consumer needs and preferences. The Tucson Hybrid's blend of practicality, fuel efficiency, and modern design has made it a popular choice in the competitive hybrid SUV market.

Alex Kwanten, Managing Editor at U.S. News & World Report, emphasized the significance of these awards in the context of a rapidly evolving automotive landscape. "As consumer interest in electrified vehicles continues to surge and the variety of available models expands, our awards provide consumers with crucial guidance," Kwanten stated. "Based on our data-driven and comprehensive evaluations, both quantitative and qualitative, these award winners represent the pinnacle of their respective segments."

U.S. News & World Report has established itself as a reputable source for automotive rankings and reviews since 2007, providing valuable insights to consumers navigating the complexities of the new car market. The annual "Best Cars Awards" and "Best Cars for Money" awards are highly regarded within the automotive industry and by consumers alike, offering data-backed assessments of vehicle quality, value, and overall ownership experience.

Hyundai's consistent success in these awards underscores its commitment to developing and delivering high-quality, efficient, and technologically advanced electrified vehicles. The recognition of the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and Tucson Hybrid across different segments highlights Hyundai's comprehensive approach to electrification, offering compelling options for a wide range of consumers seeking to transition to more sustainable transportation. This achievement is likely to further solidify Hyundai's position as a leading player in the global electric and hybrid vehicle market and enhance consumer confidence in its growing portfolio of electrified offerings. The company's continued investment in research and development in the realm of electric and hybrid technologies positions it well for future success in this dynamic and increasingly important sector of the automotive industry.
