Incheon, South Korea – The Incheon City Election Commission has officially announced the finalization of 742 polling stations for the upcoming 21st Presidential Election, scheduled for June 3rd. Concurrently, the commission has initiated the dispatch of voting guides and leaflet-type election bulletins to every household across the city.
In addition to the general distribution, 4,176 registered absentee voters have received their absentee ballots, accompanying voting instructions, and booklet-type election bulletins. Furthermore, 1,127 military personnel and police officers who reside in barracks or bases and are unable to receive standard household mail have also been sent booklet-type election bulletins upon their request to the Election Commission.
Essential Documents for Voters: Voting Guides and Leaflet-Type Election Bulletins
Voters are strongly encouraged to review the voting guide and leaflet-type election bulletin delivered to their households. While presidential candidates can produce both booklet-type and leaflet-type election bulletins, only three candidates have submitted leaflet-type bulletins for this election. These will be dispatched along with the voting guides by May 24th.
The voting guide contains crucial information for each voter, including their name, voter registration number, and detailed instructions for participating in both early voting and election day voting, specifying voting hours and polling station locations. The leaflet-type election bulletins provide valuable insights into candidates' policies and pledges, aiding voters in their decision-making process.
Accessible Polling Stations: Prioritizing Voter Convenience
The City Election Commission has made concerted efforts to enhance voter accessibility by ensuring that all 742 polling stations are located on the ground floor or in buildings equipped with elevators. This initiative aims to facilitate ease of access for elderly voters, individuals with disabilities, and others who may face difficulties with inter-floor movement.
Voters can readily confirm their designated polling station location through their local government's 'Voter Registration Information System' or by utilizing the polling station finder service available on the National Election Commission's official website (https://nec.go.kr).
Absentee Ballots: Timely Submission is Crucial
Absentee voters are reminded that their completed ballots, marked with a ballpoint pen, must be returned in the provided return envelope and arrive at the respective district/county election commission by 8:00 PM on June 3rd, the official election day.
To account for postal delivery times, absentee voters are advised to deposit their return envelopes in a mailbox or submit them at a post office by June 2nd at the latest. The postage for these registered mail items will be borne by the state.
For facilities with 10 or more absentee voters, such as hospitals, nursing homes, detention centers, prisons, correctional facilities, and residential facilities for the disabled, designated polling booths for absentee voting must be established. Furthermore, observers selected by candidates are permitted to monitor the voting process in these locations.
Additional information, including candidates' booklet-type and leaflet-type election bulletins, and their top ten pledges, can be accessed on the National Election Commission's 'Policy and Pledge Platform' website.
An official from the City Election Commission urged all eligible voters to carefully review the election bulletins and confirm their polling station location through the voting guide to ensure their full participation in the election.
