San Salvador, El Salvador – Tigo El Salvador has unveiled an ambitious plan to significantly expand its 4G LTE coverage across the nation, aiming to connect an additional 250,000 residents in 92 districts this year. This initiative, a core component of Tigo's comprehensive 2025 mobile network expansion strategy, underscores the company's commitment to accelerating El Salvador's digital transformation and fostering robust economic development.

During a press conference, Carolina Vallejo, CEO of Tigo El Salvador, announced that this expansion will elevate the company's network coverage to an impressive 95% of the national territory, effectively reaching 5.7 million people. This milestone follows the successful completion of a previous expansion phase, which involved a substantial $500 million investment since 2019.

"Today, we are proud to say that we serve more than half of Salvadorans," Vallejo stated. "We connect more than 3 million customers with our mobile, residential, and corporate services, where we have productivity, education, and entertainment platforms."

Tigo's strategic focus extends to providing solutions that address the evolving needs of El Salvador, particularly in light of the country's improved security, which has spurred growth in tourism, mobility, commerce, and urban development. The company has already enhanced network capacity in key tourist destinations, acknowledging the increasing number of Salvadorans exploring their own country.

Hernán Mariño, Vice President of Operations at Tigo El Salvador, emphasized the positive impact of this expansion on the tourism sector, stating, "Today, El Salvador is a country where Salvadorans are able to discover places they could not discover before. We also saw that El Salvador was recognized by the UN as the second country with the best tourism evolution. From Tigo we accompany that growth, as cities, rural areas and tourist destinations such as Surf City and the Historic Center of San Salvador will benefit from more stable connectivity."

Furthermore, Alfonso Puente, Vice President of Business at Tigo El Salvador, highlighted the benefits for businesses, stating that the expansion will enable more companies to optimize their operations through Tigo Business.

In addition to improved connectivity, Tigo is also enhancing its entertainment offerings. The company will broadcast major sporting events, including the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, through Tigo Sports. To celebrate the expansion, Tigo is offering special promotions for its prepaid and postpaid customers.
