Cheonan City Launches Short Film Screenplay Competition to Foster Local Filmmaking Talent

CHEONAN, SOUTH KOREA – The Cheonan Cultural Foundation, under the leadership of CEO Ahn Dong-soon, has announced the upcoming 'Cheonan Short Film Screenplay Competition,' organized by the Cheonan City Video Media Center. This initiative, revealed on April 18th, aims to invigorate the regional film production ecosystem and provide a platform for both established and emerging filmmakers within the Cheonan area.

The competition is structured into two distinct categories: a general division open to all Cheonan citizens and a university student division catering to currently enrolled and graduated students whose academic focus or place of residence is within Cheonan. This dual approach underscores the Center's commitment to nurturing talent across different demographics and educational levels.

The call for submissions will commence on May 12th and will continue until June 13th, offering participants a five-week window to present their creative visions. A significant total prize purse of 10 million Korean Won (KRW) has been allocated to recognize and reward the most compelling and original screenplays. We firmly believe that by providing a platform for creative expression and recognizing exceptional storytelling, we can significantly 활성화 (revitalize) the film production infrastructure within our region."

The competition guidelines, eligibility criteria, and submission procedures will be comprehensively outlined on the official websites of the Cheonan Cultural Foundation (likely under a dedicated section for the Media Center) and the Cheonan City Video Media Center.
