Cheonan, South Korea – [Date] – Cheonan City has made a significant stride towards modernizing its agricultural sector with the recent opening of four state-of-the-art smart farms in the regions of Pungse, Gwangdeok, Seongnam, and Susin. This initiative, part of the city's agricultural extension demonstration project, is expected to revolutionize farming practices and attract young farmers to the industry.   

Funded by both provincial and municipal budgets, totaling 2.2 billion won, the new smart farms are equipped with cutting-edge technology to optimize crop growth. Each farm, spanning between 0.2 and 0.4 hectares, is tailored to the specific needs of crops like cucumbers and strawberries. Key features include hydroponic bed systems, integrated environmental control systems, nutrient solution supply units, and heating and cooling equipment.   

“With these smart farms, farmers can now precisely control the internal environment for each crop and utilize internal and external environmental sensors to make data-driven farming decisions,” said Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don. “We are committed to fostering the growth of smart agriculture and supporting our young farmers. This is just the beginning of our efforts to modernize agriculture in Cheonan.”
