Two South Korean experts have been named to key positions within the steering groups under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Telecommunications and Information Working Group (TEL).
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 24th that Joo-dong Chang, a researcher at the National Radio Research Agency, and Jung-eun Park, a researcher at the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), have been elected as secretary and vice-secretary of their respective steering groups.
Their terms will run for two years, from next year through 2028.
Researcher Joo-dong Chang will serve as the secretary for the ICT Conformity Assessment and Interoperability Steering Group, while Researcher Jung-eun Park will serve as the vice-secretary for the ICT Development and Policy Steering Group.
APEC TEL is a consultative body that promotes ICT development and cooperation in policy and regulatory fields across the Asia-Pacific region. It drives policy and technological cooperation among member economies centered around three steering groups: DPSG, CISG, and the ICT Security and Trust Steering Group.
Following the election of Ha-yeon Kang, a senior research fellow at the Korea Information Society Development Institute, as TEL Co-Chair (2025–2026) in 2024, Korea has further secured key steering group positions, continuing its strong leadership in the APEC ICT sector.
