Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea – Chungcheongnam-do Province has extended the deadline for local disaster and safety industry companies to apply for participation in the prestigious RISCON TOKYO 2025 exhibition. The application window will now remain open until May 12th, offering an extended opportunity for regional enterprises to showcase their innovations on an international platform.

RISCON TOKYO, scheduled to take place in Japan from October 1st to 3rd, stands as Japan's preeminent comprehensive trade show dedicated to crisis management solutions. The event serves as a vital nexus for professionals and organizations focused on bolstering resilience against a spectrum of threats, encompassing natural disasters, security breaches, and business disruptions. The exhibition's core themes revolve around disaster risk reduction, security technologies, and business continuity planning.

In a strategic move to nurture its burgeoning disaster safety sector and facilitate access to global markets, Chungcheongnam-do Province is collaborating with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Busan Metropolitan City, and Gwangju Metropolitan City to establish a unified Korea Pavilion at RISCON TOKYO. This collaborative effort aims to present the cutting-edge disaster safety products and technologies developed by South Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The integrated pavilion will serve as a central hub for showcasing national capabilities and fostering international partnerships.

A total of 25 companies will be selected to participate in the Korea Pavilion. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will nominate 10 enterprises, while each of the three participating local governments, including Chungcheongnam-do, will select five companies from their respective jurisdictions. This collaborative approach ensures a diverse representation of South Korea's strengths in the disaster safety domain.

Eligibility for participation is open to SMEs that have their headquarters or manufacturing facilities located within Chungcheongnam-do Province and possess demonstrable disaster safety products or services. Interested companies are encouraged to review the detailed application guidelines available in the "Notice/Announcement" section of the Chungcheongnam-do provincial government website. Applications must be submitted electronically via email by the extended deadline of 5:00 PM on May 12th.

The selection process will be rigorous, taking into account several key criteria. These include the applicant's export performance, possession of relevant international certifications, overall business competitiveness, the firm's commitment to exploring and penetrating overseas markets, and a history of engagement in provincial government initiatives, such as participation in disaster safety technology competitions. A comprehensive evaluation based on these factors will determine the final selection of participating companies, with top-scoring applicants receiving priority.

Recognizing the financial and logistical challenges often faced by SMEs venturing into international markets, Chungcheongnam-do Province will provide significant support to the selected companies. This assistance package includes coverage of booth rental and essential setup expenses, professional interpretation services to facilitate effective communication, logistical support for shipping samples (up to 1 cubic meter), and proactive buyer outreach to connect participating companies with relevant international stakeholders.

Shin Dong-heon, Head of Chungcheongnam-do Province's Civil Safety Office, underscored the strategic importance of this initiative. "By operating an integrated Korea Pavilion at RISCON TOKYO, we aim to empower our local disaster safety companies to transcend the limitations of the domestic market and establish a robust presence on the global stage," stated Head Shin. "Chungcheongnam-do Province is committed to the continuous identification and support of diverse projects that foster overseas market expansion and the overall growth of our disaster safety industry."

RISCON TOKYO, since its inception, has grown into a pivotal event for professionals in disaster prevention, risk management, and business continuity. The 2024 edition, for example, hosted hundreds of exhibitors and attracted tens of thousands of visitors, including government officials, corporate executives, infrastructure managers, and academics. The exhibition provides a unique platform for showcasing innovative technologies, sharing best practices, and forging collaborations aimed at creating safer and more resilient societies and businesses. Participating in this event offers Chungcheongnam-do's selected companies unparalleled opportunities for market visibility, networking, and potential export deals.

The extension of the application deadline signals the province's commitment to ensuring broad participation from its most promising disaster safety enterprises, maximizing the potential for successful international market entry and long-term growth for the regional economy.
