An unique hands-on experience is underway where participants can cook dishes using fresh ingredients from Samcheok's rural, mountain, and fishing villages, while also tasting traditional Samcheok makjang.
The Samcheok City Government and the Samcheok Return-to-Farming and Rural-Life Support Center are jointly hosting the "Samcheok Farm Table Season 2: Samcheok Samil" experiential program in collaboration with "Tomorrow's Table," a non-profit corporation dedicated to food education and food culture activities. Online applications for the program are open until October 29. The program will kick off with an orientation in Seoul on November 5, followed by the main 3-day, 2-night immersion program in Samcheok from December 4 to December 6.
Organized as part of the Samcheok City Return-to-Farming and Rural-Life Attraction Support Project, this program offers a journey to experience Samcheok’s rural, mountain, and fishing communities through food, exploring local lifestyles and the possibilities of relocating to farming and rural areas. Through pre-departure education in Seoul and a 3-day, 2-night stay in Samcheok, participants will gain new perspectives on rural communities and regions while directly experiencing the people, cuisine, and daily life of Samcheok.
The program is open to individuals aged 49 and under who are interested in relocating to rural areas, or those seeking a new life and career in fields such as agriculture, local cuisine, food processing, local F&B, and rural entrepreneurship. Participants will be selected based on their motivation and areas of interest rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. The participation fee is 50,000 KRW, and successful applicants will be notified individually on October 30.
For further details, including application guidelines, please check the official Samcheok City website or contact the Samcheok Return-to-Farming and Rural-Life Support Center at ☎ 033-572-7727.
An official from the Samcheok Return-to-Farming and Rural-Life Support Center stated, "As this is a meaningful opportunity to directly experience Samcheok’s rural, mountain, and fishing villages while pondering the future direction of rural communities together, we look forward to receiving much interest and active participation."
