Exploring New Directions and Cooperation Strategies for Regional Tourism under the Banner "Samcheok, Reborn Through Tourism"

SAMCHOK — The Samcheok Tourism and Culture Foundation announced that it will host the "2026 Samcheok Tourism Companion Forum" on Friday, October 23, starting at 1:30 PM at the Emerald Hall of Sol Beach Samcheok.

This forum has been organized to examine changing tourism trends and policy environments, explore new directions for Samcheok tourism alongside the local community, and discuss measures for sustainable regional tourism revitalization.

The forum will feature keynote presentations by three tourism experts:

Jeong Ran-soo, CEO of Project Soo and Adjunct Professor at Hanyang University's Department of Tourism, will present on "Local Tourism Trends and the Future of Samcheok Tourism," offering strategies to transition festival achievements into a year-round tourism structure.
Kim Dong-hyun, Research Fellow at the Korea Culture & Tourism Institute, will speak on "Trends Confirmed by Data, Policies Coming to the Regions," analyzing shifting tourism trends and policy changes from a data-driven perspective while outlining Samcheok's regional tourism response system.
Im Gwan-hyeok, Director of the Samcheok Community Support Center, will propose "Strategies for Revitalizing Samcheok Tourism Based on the Local Community," focusing on tourism revitalization driven by resident participation and community collaboration.
Following the presentations, a comprehensive panel discussion will be led by moderator Professor Yu Won-geun from Gangwon National University's Department of Economics and Finance. The discussion features panelists Park Jeong-hyun, Team Leader of the Regional Specialization Team at the Gangwon Tourism Organization, and Sung Nak-sook, CEO of the Cultural Content Development Research Institute. Building upon the preceding presentations, the panel will examine current challenges and future directions for Samcheok tourism, sharing practical cooperation measures and diverse opinions for revitalizing local tourism.

Choi Ji-yeon, Brand Marketing Team Leader at the Samcheok Tourism and Culture Foundation, stated, "We hope this forum will serve as a platform to share diverse perspectives from tourism trends, policies, and the local community while jointly pondering the future of Samcheok tourism. We ask for great interest and participation from local tourism stakeholders and small business owners."
