Large-scale industrial complex development and urban development projects that will change the future of Daejeon are progressing smoothly. Daejeon Urban Development Corporation announced that major policy projects are being stably promoted, expressing its ambition to transform Daejeon from a consumption-oriented city to a production-oriented economic city through these initiatives.

Jeong Kuk-yeong, President of Daejeon Urban Development Corporation, explained the current status and future plans of industrial complex development and urban development projects in detail at a press conference on the 8th. The creation of a massive industrial complex totaling 17,685,950㎡ is expected to significantly contribute to regional economic revitalization and job creation.

Smooth Progress in Large-Scale Industrial Complex Development The fastest progressing industrial complex is the Pyeongchon District Industrial Complex in Seogu, spanning approximately 850,000㎡, with completion slated for December this year. Daejeon Urban Development Corporation has prepared support measures such as loan agreements and flexible payment periods to alleviate the initial burden on companies.

The Tapnip and Jeonmin National Industrial Complex in Yuseong-gu is set to begin compensation procedures in the second half of this year (July-December), aiming for groundbreaking next year. Additionally, the Odong District in Seogu is scheduled to start compensation in 2027 and groundbreaking in 2028, while the Bonggok District plans for green belt解除 next year, compensation in 2028, and groundbreaking in 2029.

Particularly noteworthy projects are the Hagi District and the Ansan Advanced Defense Convergence Cluster. These districts are expected to have their green belts lifted this year, with compensation and groundbreaking commencing immediately next year. This is anticipated to play a crucial role in securing Daejeon's future growth engines.

Furthermore, the Nano Semiconductor National Industrial Complex to be developed in the Gyochon-dong area of Yuseong-gu is a massive project with a budget of 3.45 trillion won. A preliminary feasibility study is currently underway, aiming for compensation in 2027 and groundbreaking in early 2028. This industrial complex is expected to be decisive in establishing Daejeon as a hub for advanced science and technology.

The Samjeong District is scheduled to begin green belt解除 next year, followed by compensation in 2028, and construction in early 2029. Daejeon Urban Development Corporation plans to minimize the project period by concurrently proceeding with design and permitting procedures, considering that it typically takes over 5 years from project approval to groundbreaking.

Urban Development Projects Also "On Track" In addition to industrial complex development, Daejeon's urban development projects are also progressing smoothly. The Yuseong Intercity Bus Terminal, which faced difficulties for 10 years, resumed after a private project was withdrawn and Daejeon City decided to develop it as a facility with only terminal functions. The frame construction is currently 40% complete, aiming for opening within this year. This is expected to significantly improve transportation convenience for Daejeon citizens.

The Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park is scheduled to open in September, along with a citizens' concert, and the Bomunsan Observatory (Boun-dae), built in 1965, will be reborn as the 'Bomunsan Big Tree Observatory' this November. The new observatory will feature various convenience facilities such as a book cafe and a virtual reality experience center, becoming a new landmark for Daejeon.

The Seonambu District Urban Development Project, including the Seonambu Comprehensive Sports Town, is also scheduled to begin construction within the year. This project will contribute to improving the residential environment and expanding sports infrastructure in the southwestern region of Daejeon.

In addition, the Seollang District Urban Development Project in Yongun-dong, Dong-gu, the Gapcheon 4-block Public-Supported Private Rental Housing Project, the Daedong Public Housing Project, the Job-Linked Support Housing within the former Fashion World site in Wolpyeong-dong, and the Banseok Station Public Housing Project are all actively being promoted with groundbreaking targeted for as early as next year.

Daejeon Urban Development Corporation announced that all industrial complex development, urban development projects, and residential welfare projects currently underway are proceeding smoothly and stably without any hitches. Furthermore, it emphasized that there are no problems with fund management, having agreed on capital increases with Daejeon City over the past two years.

President Jeong Kuk-yeong stressed, "Through the creation of industrial complexes, we will transform Daejeon's economic structure from consumption-oriented to production-oriented, and promote urban development in a direction that ensures balanced growth between the city center and its outskirts." This indicates that Daejeon will emerge as a production-oriented future city, where advanced industries and residential areas are harmoniously integrated.
