Kia EV3 Achieves Top Safety Rating from Euro NCAP

All-Electric Compact SUV Earns 5-Star Accreditation, Continuing Kia's Legacy of Safety Excellence

Frankfurt, Germany – Kia's highly anticipated compact electric SUV, the EV3, has officially been awarded the highest possible safety rating by Euro NCAP, Europe's leading independent vehicle safety assessment program. This prestigious 5-star rating underscores Kia's unwavering commitment to occupant protection and advanced safety technologies, reinforcing its position as a frontrunner in the electric vehicle market.

The EV3 demonstrated exceptional performance across Euro NCAP's rigorous testing protocols, particularly excelling in the Adult Occupant Protection category, where it secured top scores in the crucial side impact test. Euro NCAP highlighted the EV3's ability to maintain a secure passenger compartment during collisions, effectively safeguarding critical body regions for all occupants.

"The EV3 is an incredibly versatile vehicle designed to support diverse customer lifestyles," stated Pablo Martinez, Senior Vice President of Product & Marketing at Kia Europe. "This remarkable Euro NCAP rating unequivocally proves that the EV3 guarantees outstanding safety for drivers, passengers, and vulnerable road users alike."

The robust safety performance of the EV3 is further bolstered by its comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), particularly when equipped with the 'DriveWise ADAS Pack.' This optional package, featuring technologies such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) and Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), significantly contributed to the EV3's high marks in the Safety Assist Systems category. Beyond active collision avoidance, the EV3 also received high praise for its driver status monitoring system, which helps prevent fatigue-related accidents, and its eCall system, which automatically alerts emergency services in the event of a collision. The Multi-Collision Brake (MCB) system, designed to prevent secondary impacts after an initial collision, also garnered positive recognition.

This latest achievement marks a significant milestone for Kia, as the EV3 now joins its dedicated electric vehicle siblings, the EV6 (rated in 2022) and the EV9 (rated in 2023), in receiving Euro NCAP's coveted maximum safety rating. This consistent performance across its purpose-built electric vehicle lineup solidifies Kia's reputation for delivering not only innovative but also incredibly safe EVs.

Established in 1997, Euro NCAP plays a pivotal role in consumer awareness by conducting comprehensive safety tests on new vehicles sold in Europe and publishing annual results. Their assessments cover four key areas: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection (which includes pedestrians and cyclists), and Safety Assist Systems. The overall rating is then determined by a weighted average of these four categories, ultimately leading to a star rating from one to five.

The EV3's exemplary performance in Euro NCAP testing, particularly its strong scores in adult occupant protection and the effectiveness of its ADAS suite, positions it as a compelling choice for consumers prioritizing safety in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle segment. As the automotive industry continues its transition towards electrification, Kia's commitment to delivering top-tier safety alongside cutting-edge technology will undoubtedly be a key driver of its continued success.
