SEOUL, South Korea – The original soundtrack (OST) for the Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters is making waves globally, with its track "Your Idol" by the fictional group Lion Boyz hitting number one on Spotify's Daily Top Songs US chart on July 4th (local time). This achievement marks a significant milestone, as "Your Idol" is only the fourth K-Pop song to ever reach the top spot on the highly competitive US chart.

Previous K-Pop tracks to claim the coveted number one position on Spotify's US chart include Jungkook's "Seven" and Jimin's "Who," both from the global sensation BTS, and Rosé's "APT." from BLACKPINK. Prior to this, the highest a K-Pop group had charted was BTS's "Dynamite" at number three, underscoring the groundbreaking success of the K-Pop Demon Hunters OST.

The film's soundtrack has demonstrated remarkable strength beyond just "Your Idol." Several other tracks have also secured top positions on the US Spotify chart. "Golden," performed by the film's protagonist girl group Huntresses, reached number two, while "How It's Done," another Huntresses track, landed at number eight. "Soda Pop," also by Lion Boyz, rounded out the top ten at number ten, showcasing the widespread appeal of the entire album.

K-Pop Demon Hunters is a musical animation that centers on Huntresses, a popular K-Pop girl group secretly tasked with protecting the human world from malevolent spirits. The narrative unfolds as Huntresses enters into a fierce popularity rivalry with Lion Boyz, a boy group that mysteriously emerged from the demon world, leading to a thrilling journey as Huntresses endeavors to uncover their true identities. In the film, "Your Idol" and "Soda Pop" are featured as songs by Lion Boyz, while "Golden" and "How It's Done" are presented as Huntresses' tracks.

The stellar success of the OST is largely attributed to the formidable talent behind its creation. The album's production saw the extensive involvement of acclaimed composers from THEBLACKLABEL, including star producer Teddy, known for his work with iconic K-Pop groups like BIGBANG and BLACKPINK, as well as Kush and Vince. Their collective expertise and musical prowess have evidently resonated with a global audience.

This latest achievement on Spotify follows the OST album's impressive debut on the Billboard charts. The K-Pop Demon Hunters OST album previously secured the eighth position on the prestigious Billboard 200, the main album chart in the United States. Furthermore, individual tracks from the album, including "Your Idol" and "Golden," have successfully entered both major music charts: the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the US and the Official Singles Chart Top 100 in the UK, solidifying the soundtrack's widespread critical and commercial acclaim.

The continued success of the K-Pop Demon Hunters OST highlights the growing global influence of K-Pop and its expanding reach into various entertainment mediums. The film's unique blend of music, animation, and a compelling storyline, coupled with a high-caliber soundtrack, has clearly captured the imagination of audiences worldwide, signaling a promising future for cross-cultural entertainment ventures.
