Mayor Cho Yong-ik and the Integrated Defense Council and Veterans Association Check Military Readiness and Encourage Soldiers

Bucheon City announced on the 16th that Mayor Cho Yong-ik, along with members of the Bucheon City Integrated Defense Council and representatives of the Bucheon City Veterans Association, visited the Incheon Jangdo Training Ground on the 14th to observe the "Capital Corps Joint Field Training."

This observation followed discussions held last September between Mayor Cho Yong-ik and Major General Kim Yong-soo, Commander of the Army’s 17th Infantry Division, regarding cooperative measures to establish a regional integrated defense posture and ensure citizen safety. The itinerary on that day proceeded in the order of a briefing on training situations and mobile equipment, an offensive maneuver training session, and an equipment exhibition.

The training involved the 17th Infantry Division, Capital Corps direct-control units, and the 2nd Marine Division, deploying various military assets including tanks, armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery, helicopters, reconnaissance drones, and robots. The focus was on enhancing joint operation execution capabilities and inspecting readiness through major asset demonstrations and field maneuvers.

At the site, Mayor Cho inspected the military’s key assets and the joint operation execution process. Following the conclusion of the field training, he shared his impressions of the observation and expressed gratitude for the soldiers' hard work.

Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik stated, "I thank all the soldiers who fulfill their duties in their respective positions for the peaceful daily lives of our citizens. Based on cooperation among the public, government, military, police, and fire departments, Bucheon City will strengthen its regional integrated defense posture and continue necessary cooperation and support for the Hoguk Exercise."

Meanwhile, the city plans to cooperate on public outreach and other efforts for the smooth operation of the Hoguk Exercise, which will take place from the 19th to the 23rd. Moving forward, the city plans to maintain a close cooperative system with related organizations such as the military, police, and fire departments based on the cooperative measures discussed with the 17th Infantry Division, thereby continuing collaboration to respond swiftly in the event of an emergency.
