CHEONAN, South Korea – The '2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo,' held for five days from June 4th to 8th, attracted a total of 356,448 visitors, Cheonan City announced on the 9th. This figure marks a significant increase of 43,549 visitors compared to last year's 312,899 attendees, setting a new record for the highest number of visitors since the K-Culture Expo's inception.

The expo also shattered its single-day attendance record. On Saturday, June 7th, an astounding 123,459 visitors flocked to the event, surpassing the previous record of 119,238 set last year by approximately 4,221 people.

Cheonan City attributes the surge in visitors to several factors. The expansion of exhibition content, including the Korean alphabet (Hangeul), gaming, and video content industry halls, along with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and immersive content into experiential programs, were well-received.

Furthermore, a diverse range of performances catering to all age groups, such as the SBS PowerFM Wendy's Young Street radio broadcast, K-Retro Concert, C'est Si Bon Concert, children's musical 'Catch! Teenieping,' and K-OST Concert, effectively drew large crowds. Beyond the main stage, the Welcome Zone and Univ. Zone also featured performance stages, allowing visitors to comfortably enjoy shows throughout the exhibition venue. The strategic placement of experience zones, food zones, and kids zones to enhance visitor flow and convenience also garnered positive feedback.

Improvements in various visitor amenities, including safety management, shuttle bus services, medical support, missing child response, and cooling shelters, were also cited as contributing factors to the increased attendance.

The city noted a substantial increase in global visitors, including K-influencers from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea.net honorary reporters, officials from 11 foreign embassies in Korea, U.S. Forces Korea at Camp Humphreys, and foreign government officials and students. This significant international presence underscored the expo's growing global stature.

The '2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo' further enhanced its historical significance and value by incorporating a Memorial Day Tribute Concert and a veterans' culture festival commemorating the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation. Cheonan City stated that these additions demonstrated the K-Culture Expo's expanding reach and development potential as a comprehensive cultural industry expo that transcends the Hallyu wave to encompass both past and future.

With Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum's attendance and clear commitment to provincial support, Cheonan anticipates becoming a central hub for K-culture.

Cheonan City plans to expand multilingual guidance systems and convenience services for foreign visitors, regularize promotional booths for local startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and strengthen the exhibition's role as an industrialization and export platform for Hallyu cultural content through business-to-business (B2B) consultations.

The K-Culture Expo is South Korea's largest comprehensive cultural industry exhibition, offering visitors a chance to experience the charm of diverse Hallyu content and the value of the cultural industry. It has been held annually since 2023 with the aim of establishing Cheonan as a sacred place of the nation and a hub of Hallyu culture.

Kim Seok-pil, Acting Mayor of Cheonan City, remarked, "This expo was a special time to experience the rich diversity of K-Culture, encompassing both tradition and modernity, and a unique Hallyu culture fused with modern technology across various fields." He added, "We will continuously strive to ensure that Korea's powerful cultural influence, alongside Cheonan, expands globally."
