Hyundai Engineering & Construction Pioneers Noise-Free Apartment Living with Industry-Leading Technology

Seoul, South Korea – Hyundai Engineering & Construction (H&E) has announced its groundbreaking achievement in the fight against noise pollution in residential buildings. The company has successfully commercialized its proprietary “H Silent Home System II” technology, which is set to revolutionize apartment living by significantly reducing noise transmission between floors.

The innovative technology will be first implemented in the upcoming "Die H Daechi Edelrui" apartment complex, scheduled for completion in the first half of next year. H&E plans to gradually expand the application of this 1st-grade noise reduction floor structure to other residential projects.

While various noise reduction technologies have been developed in the construction industry, H&E's "H Silent Home System" is the only one to have been successfully applied and verified in actual apartments. The upgraded "H Silent Home System II" builds upon the success of its predecessor, utilizing high-performance cushioning materials and high-density specialized mortar to create a "floating floor" structure that maximizes noise reduction. Notably, the system employs PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and PU (polyurethane) as high-performance cushioning materials to effectively block low-frequency vibrations caused by walking or running, thereby reducing impact noise.

H&E's proprietary technology has already been recognized for its exceptional performance, having obtained the first-grade certification for both lightweight and heavyweight impact noise tests in 2022, a first for any construction company in South Korea.

"As the government strengthens its noise reduction measures through revisions to the Housing Act and the Housing and Urban Development Fund Act, H&E is at the forefront of addressing these new legal standards by not only developing cutting-edge technology but also implementing it in actual construction projects," said a representative from H&E. "We are committed to continuously developing optimal residential solutions that enable residents to enjoy an enhanced quality of life and harmonious community living."

Since 2015, H&E has been at the forefront of noise reduction technology development, dedicating a specialized team and research facility to this endeavor. Recently, the company unveiled the "H Silent Lab," a comprehensive noise reduction research facility. This facility enables H&E to conduct research on various noise reduction systems, including floor systems, plane structures, low-frequency and vibration control technologies, and noise detection algorithms. The result is the "H Silent Solution Package," a holistic approach to noise reduction that combines multiple technologies for effective and practical solutions.
