The Samcheok Carbon Neutrality Support Center announced that it successfully concluded the 'Maka! Sseuddam Sseuddam! Carbon Neutral Plogging' event with the Samcheok Volunteer Center on Friday, July 4th, starting at 9 AM around Samcheok Beach.

This event was organized as part of the '2025 Samcheok Carbon Neutral Citizen Participation Campaign Operation Project.' It aimed to raise awareness about marine waste and illegal dumping of single-use items ahead of the beach's opening, and to promote a carbon-neutral practice culture through voluntary citizen participation.

A total of 34 participants, including carbon neutrality expert instructors from the Samcheok Carbon Neutrality Support Center and volunteers from the Samcheok Volunteer Center, engaged in environmental clean-up activities along the coast for approximately two hours. Participants collected trash around the beach in preparation for the influx of tourists during the summer, directly experiencing the importance of practicing carbon-neutral living.

This plogging event was more than just a clean-up activity; it was operated as a practical program where citizens, administration, and volunteer organizations collaboratively sought solutions to structural environmental issues in tourist areas. It served as an opportunity to demonstrate the potential for spreading a citizen-participatory carbon-neutral culture.

A center official stated, "We hope this activity serves as an opportunity to convey a clean and eco-friendly city image to tourists visiting Samcheok. We also anticipate that awareness of local environmental issues will further spread through citizen-led carbon neutrality efforts in the future."

Meanwhile, the Samcheok Carbon Neutrality Support Center plans to continue operating various citizen-participatory campaigns, presenting practical models for Samcheok's transition to a carbon-neutral city and the creation of a sustainable environment.
