Recruiting Participants for Youth Challenge Support Project and Youth Growth Project

Daejeon City is recruiting participants for its 'Youth Challenge Support Project' and 'Youth Growth Project' to help young people facing employment difficulties recover their daily lives and enter the labor market.

The 'Youth Challenge Support Project' targets young people aged 18 to 39 who, as of the application date, have not been employed, educated, or undergone vocational training for at least the past six months. It offers customized programs.

These programs consist of activities for confidence building, career exploration, strengthening employment capabilities, and external networking. Participants can choose between short-term (5 weeks) and mid-to-long-term (15-25 weeks) courses.

Participants in the long-term course can receive a maximum of 3.5 million won in participation allowances and incentives. For the second half of the year, the schedule is as follows: Short-term 2nd session (September 15th ~ October 16th), Mid-term 3rd session (June 24th ~ October 2nd), and Mid-term 4th session (July 25th ~ November 3rd). Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the day before the course starts.

The concurrently operated 'Youth Growth Project' targets young people aged 15 to 39. This project utilizes youth-exclusive spaces, such as 'Youth Cafes,' as hubs to provide initial counseling, customized programs, and links to employment policies. Daejeon City is implementing this project after being selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's public contest for two consecutive years, along with Dong-gu and Seo-gu in 2024.

Youth participating in the program will undergo 1:1 counseling to determine their level of work experience and job-seeking motivation. They will then participate in personalized, step-by-step courses, including career exploration and daily life recovery, employment warm-up, and practical capability strengthening. These programs are regularly operated weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays each month, and applications are open continuously.

Young people wishing to participate can apply through 'Work24' (www.work24.go.kr). More detailed information can be found on the Daejeon Metropolitan City website under Open Economy > Job Support section. For other inquiries, please contact the Daejeon Job Support Center's Youth Challenge Team (☎042-719-8370~4) or Youth Growth Team (☎042-719-8360~3).

Kwon Kyung-min, Director-General of Daejeon City's Economy Bureau, stated, "We hope these programs will serve as a practical turning point for young people experiencing employment gaps." He added, "We will continue to do our best to provide employment services tailored to the diverse needs of young people."
