BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – In the faraway land of Argentina, a meaningful event where Korean youth proudly showcased their dreams and shared their aspirations for the future successfully concluded. Held on June 14th at the Shin Sung Church main hall, the "6th Youth My Dream Presentation Festival" saw enthusiastic presentations from participating youth, with about 100 attendees, including parents and educators, sharing moments of inspiration with warm applause and encouragement.

A Festival Where Dreams Took Flight

This festival was hosted by the My Dream International Foundation's Argentina branch, supported by various Korean community organizations in Argentina. In particular, this event held great significance as it provided a valuable opportunity for Korean youth residing in Argentina to concretely plan their futures, share them with others, and boost their self-confidence.

In her opening remarks, Park Young-hee, head of the My Dream International

Foundation's Argentina branch, encouraged participants, stating, "Today's presentations are moments that will give wings to your dreams." Her heartfelt message instilled courage and hope in the youth. Following her, several dignitaries, including Lee Mi-ha, Director of the Korean Education Center in Argentina, and Sohn Chang-hyun, Chairman of the My Dream International Foundation (via video message), conveyed congratulatory and supportive messages, endorsing the youth's dreams. The judging panel meticulously evaluated the participants' presentations based on authenticity, presentation skills, and message delivery to ensure fairness.

A Diverse Feast of Dreams: Values Beyond Professions

On stage, the youth presented dreams spanning various professions, including doctors, lawyers, YouTubers, and ballerinas. Beyond simply aiming for specific occupations, their presentations conveyed deep reflections on social contributions and personal growth they wished to achieve through these professions, deeply moving the audience. One participant emphatically stated, "A dream is not just a simple wish, but the very direction you continuously want to move towards," showcasing their personal philosophy on dreams.

The content of the presentations distinctly reflected each youth's individuality and values. One student expressed a desire to become a doctor who uses artificial intelligence technology to help marginalized neighbors, while another articulated the ambition to become a YouTuber promoting cultural exchange between Argentina and Korea to foster mutual understanding between the two nations. Such specific and heartfelt presentations proved that this was not merely a recitation of memorized content, but a vibrant platform where the youth's passion and vision for the future came alive.

Shining Awardees Amidst Fierce Competition

Amidst fierce competition, the prestigious first place went to Yoon Ae-jin, who received almost unanimous praise from the judges for her outstanding presentation skills and profound thematic awareness. Kim Na-young took second place, followed by Lee Gi-ppeum in third.

Additionally, Yoon Hee-jin received the Grand Prize, Kwon Bo-kyung the Education Center Director's Award, Choi Ri-na the Korean Association President's Award, and Cho Ye-seul and Jeon Woo-joo the Encouragement Award. Furthermore, Kim Benjamin received the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Chairman's Award, Kwon Seon-woo the Korean Businessmen's Association Award, Hong Yu-ni the Korean Women's International Network (KOWIN) Chairman's Award, Lee Ha-na the KOWIN Collaborator's Award, and Park Damian the Korean Women's Association in Argentina Award, all acknowledging their efforts towards their dreams. These diverse awards from various institutions and organizations clearly demonstrate how much the Korean community in Argentina values and encourages the dreams and challenges of its youth.

Identity of Overseas Korean Youth and the Importance of Future Education

Korean youth in Argentina come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from 1.5 generation and 2nd generation to even 3rd generation immigrants. They face the dual challenge of integrating into Argentine society while maintaining and developing their Korean identity. In this context, events like the 'My Dream Presentation Festival' are more than just platforms for individuals to present their dreams; they hold significant educational meaning in helping Korean youth establish their identity and grow into future leaders who connect Korea and Argentina.

Korean educational institutions, such as the Korean Education Center in Argentina, play a crucial role in helping overseas Korean youth learn the Korean language and culture and understand their Korean roots. Furthermore, there is a growing need for organizations like the My Dream International Foundation to provide not only educational support but also various programs that enable youth to fully unleash their potential and grow as global citizens.

The hope and challenging spirit displayed by the Korean youth at this festival promise a bright future for the Korean community in Argentina, while also serving as an excellent example of how overseas Korean youth worldwide are nurturing their dreams in their respective locations. Continuous interest and support must be sustained to ensure that they can bravely pursue their dreams without losing their Korean pride, even in distant foreign lands. We look forward to infinite possibilities and success for the Argentine-Korean youth as they grow into future global leaders.
