Anseong City has taken a significant step toward developing the Eastern European market. In collaboration with the Gyeonggi Provincial Economic and Science Promotion Agency's Balanced Opportunity Division, Anseong successfully held export consultations in Budapest, Hungary, and Sofia, Bulgaria, from May 26 to June 1. This market exploration is expected to accelerate Anseong companies' entry into the European market, using Hungary as a bridgehead given its emergence as a European logistics hub, and will positively impact overall overseas exports in the future.

Largest-Ever Market Exploration Delegation Achieves $9 Million in Consultations in Hungary

This market exploration delegation garnered even more attention as it was conducted jointly with Pyeongtaek City and Jinju City. From Anseong City, seven manufacturing SMEs with high potential for local market entry participated: KGE, Dongbang Co., Ltd., Notban Anseong Bangjja Yugi Co., Ltd., Nongnori Agricultural Corporation, Jinsan Agricultural Corporation, Picostech, and Heemang Green Food Co., Ltd.

Notably, at the group consultation held on May 28 at the Anantara New York Palace Hotel in Budapest, Hungary, all participating companies collectively recorded consultation achievements totaling $9 million, exceeding expectations. Among these, Anseong's KGE achieved the remarkable feat of signing a contract worth approximately $697,000 (about 1 billion Korean Won) on-site. This marked a successful start to the export consultation and significantly raised expectations for subsequent consultations in Bulgaria and overall exports to Europe.

Hungary: A Key Gateway and Land of Opportunity for European Market Entry

Hungary is geographically located in the heart of Europe, offering the advantage of free trade with European Union (EU) member states. Furthermore, it is rapidly growing as a logistics hub within Europe, supported by well-developed road, rail, air, and water transportation infrastructure. These geopolitical and economic advantages make Hungary a very attractive export stronghold for Korean companies looking to enter the European market.

Recently, Hungary has been actively pursuing foreign investment policies, with significant investment from Korean companies, particularly in advanced industrial sectors such as electric vehicle batteries, automotive parts, and IT. In fact, Korea ranks second among countries investing in Hungary, demonstrating that Hungary provides a very favorable investment environment for Korean companies. The rising popularity of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) and the increasing awareness and preference for Korean products also positively contribute to Korean companies' entry into the Hungarian market.

Anseong City's successful penetration of the Hungarian market holds significant meaning as it has successfully entered an overseas market with high growth potential and a favorable attitude towards Korea. This is expected to be an important stepping stone for companies within Anseong City to explore new avenues in the European market and strengthen their global competitiveness.

Full Support from Government and Institutions: A Cornerstone for Successful Market Entry

Hong Gyu-deok, the Korean Ambassador to Hungary, who attended the preliminary meeting for this large-scale market exploration delegation, emphasized the importance of this market entry, stating, "This is the largest market exploration delegation in the last 20 years. We hope for good results from Korea, which ranks second in investment in Hungary." This shows that the Korean government highly values the potential of the Hungarian market and is actively willing to support the successful entry of Korean companies.

Jeong Gwang-yong, head of the Gyeonggi Provincial Economic and Science Promotion Agency's Balanced Opportunity Division, added, "Together with Anseong City, we will actively support export follow-up and overseas branch support to help companies in Anseong successfully establish themselves in the Hungarian market." This suggests that beyond a one-time consultation, diversified support will be provided to help participating companies stably settle and achieve sustained growth in the Hungarian market.

Anseong City and the Gyeonggi Provincial Economic and Science Promotion Agency's Eastern European market exploration is expected to significantly contribute to expanding overseas sales channels and increasing exports for local companies. Especially by securing a bridgehead for entry into the European market with Hungary as a base, and through continuous cooperation and support, it is anticipated to play a crucial role in Anseong City's companies growing into globally competitive enterprises. Attention is now focused on Anseong City's future overseas market exploration endeavors and the resulting economic achievements.
