Seoul, South Korea – The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced its plan to expand the 'Seoul Arts Talent Education' project in 2025, aiming to support 300 young, talented individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This initiative seeks to provide opportunities for aspiring artists in music and visual arts, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their potential.
Since its inception, the program has successfully fostered 3,107 art prodigies, with many achieving significant milestones, including winning prestigious competitions and gaining admission to renowned art schools. To further support these young talents, the 2025 project will increase the number of trainees to 300, up from 270 in the previous year.
Key Highlights:
Expanded Opportunities: 300 slots available (180 for music, 120 for visual arts).
Full Scholarships: All selected students receive full tuition.
Priority for Vulnerable Groups: Children from multi-child, low-income, single-parent, multicultural, and disabled families are prioritized.
Continued Support: Special selection for existing trainees from low-income families requiring ongoing education.
Expert Training: Music education provided by Konkuk University and Sookmyung Women's University, and visual arts education by Hanyang University.
Performance Opportunities: Students will have chances to showcase their talents through various performances and exhibitions.
Mentorship and Networking: Mentor-mentee programs and homecoming events will be organized.
Eligibility:
Teenagers from 1st grade elementary school to 1st grade high school.
Families with income below 120% of the median income in Seoul.
Application Process:
The selection process includes document screening, aptitude tests, practical evaluations, and in-depth interviews. The final list of selected students will be announced in April, with an entrance ceremony scheduled for April 26th.
