Cheonan City is recruiting 92 participants for the '2025 Summer Youth Administrative Experience Program,' designed to offer local youth opportunities to experience city administration and work in public institutions. This program will run for a total of five weeks, from July 7 to August 8, and is expected to help young people gain practical experience in administrative fields and explore their career paths.

Program Overview and Recruitment Numbers

Cheonan City will select a total of 92 young people for the 2025 Summer Youth Administrative Experience Program. Of these, 18 will be selected through a special recruitment process for socially vulnerable youth, while 74 will be chosen through general recruitment. Special recruitment targets include basic livelihood recipients, the next-higher income bracket, single-parent families, and, expanded this year, multi-child families. The criteria for multi-child families have been broadened from "applicants with two or more children of their own" to "three or more siblings residing together at the same address," thereby providing opportunities to more young people.

Eligibility and Application Method

Eligible applicants must be between 18 and 39 years old as of the announcement date (May 26, 2025), and must be registered residents of Cheonan City. The residency requirement is based on the address registered on the resident registration card, and the age criteria for 2025 apply to those born between 1985 and 2007.

The application period is from May 26 to June 6 at 6:00 PM. Applications must be submitted online only through the Cheonan City Hall website. Walk-in or postal applications will not be accepted. Participants will be selected through a random computerized lottery, with external observers potentially present to ensure fairness. The selection results will be posted on the Cheonan City Hall website in June and individually notified via text message.

Work Details and Conditions

Selected youth will work for five weeks, from July 7 to August 8, in various departments of Cheonan City Hall, Eup/Myeon/Dong Administrative Welfare Centers, and other public facilities. Their main duties will involve administrative field experience and practical support, offering opportunities to understand actual administrative systems and directly experience the process of providing public services, beyond simple task assistance.

Working hours are five days a week (Mon-Fri), 8 hours a day (09:00-18:00). Wages will be paid at the Cheonan City living wage level. While the 2025 Cheonan City living wage has not yet been confirmed, the 2024 Cheonan City living wage was ₩11,400 per hour, which was higher than the minimum wage. Therefore, a monthly salary of approximately ₩2.4 million is expected. Additionally, participants will be enrolled in four major insurance plans (National Pension, Health Insurance, Employment Insurance, Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance), ensuring basic labor rights.

Significance and Expected Effects of the Program

Kim Seok-pil, Acting Mayor of Cheonan City, stated, "We hope this program provides young people with the opportunity to gain practical administrative experience, explore their careers, and broaden their understanding of the public sector." He added, "We also plan to offer various supplementary programs, such as Cheonan City tours, to help them deepen their understanding of and affection for the region."

The Youth Administrative Experience Program is more than just a part-time job opportunity; it helps young people move beyond vague perceptions of the public sector by gaining actual work experience and a deeper understanding of public service. Especially for young people about to enter society, it will be a valuable opportunity to gain job experience and appreciate the role and importance of public institutions. Furthermore, Cheonan City expects this program to strengthen the capabilities of local youth, encourage citizen participation in city administration, and contribute to a vibrant and dynamic city government.
